Tweetsie Railroad Heritage Weekend 2024: The Yukon Queen Puts on a Show
Thank you to the staff at Tweetsie for putting together an absolute blast of a railfanning event! I had an absolute blast hanging out with fellow train buffs and filming the beautiful locomotives of Blowing Rock. Special thanks to @BlueRidgeProductions190 for helping me with some of my camera work and for being a joy to hang around. Love you buddy! Some of you may also notice that Locomotive No. 12 was on static display this year along with Coach No. 5. Tweetsie originally planned to have 12 run a special train dressed up in her Shenandoah Central Railroad lettering, which was the excursion 12 originally ran before coming to Tweetsie. However, shortly before the event, it was discovered that the engine had some major deterioration in her firebox that would require some major restorative work, putting her out of commission for the rest of the season. Despite this issues, the staff still managed to put on quite a show, using Locomotive No. 190 to handle the day’s runs as well as the photo special.

CSX Santa Train 2023 - Santa comes to Kingsport!

On November 18, I got my first true train-chasing experience when I traveled to Saint Paul to chase the CSX Santa Train! While not my best video, it was an incredible learning experience and I had a great time filming with fellow rail fans. Also, thank you to the kind individual who allowed me to set up my camera in the bed of his truck at 6:13. I would have missed that shot had he not given me...

On Saturday, July 22nd, my family and I traveled to West Virginia to visit the Cass Scenic Railroad for the first time. While I struggled a bit to film the trains as I didn’t know their schedule, it was still an incredible experience and I hope to go back very soon. Enjoy the video!

As we were making our way to Huntsville, Alabama, to attend this year's Space Camp, we decided to make a quick visit to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. We were lucky enough to catch former Southern Railway mikado No. 4501 pulling guests on the Missionary Ridge Local.

Due to the surge in popularity during the summer months, Tweetsie has enlisted the help of Thomas the Tank Engine to assist engines #12 and #190 with their daily passenger duties. Music: Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends main theme by Mike O’Donnell

On the 20th, I traveled to the campus of ETSU to visit the George L. Carter Railroad Museum. The inconspicuous doorway, hidden behind a dorm parking lot, opens up to a wonderland of model trains. While the members here operate incredible HO, N, and G scale layouts, the pride of the museum is their HOn3 section which accurately models the East Tennessee and Western North Carolina Railroad as it ...

This weekend, I traveled back up to Blowing Rock, North Carolina to once again film the wonderful steam locomotives of Tweetsie. While I wanted to film No. 12, it was nice to see No. 190 again Thank you for watching!

yea good catches and video of this santatrain
Hey, I was just wondering which camera are you using
@RailfanDaws1714 I was using a borrowed Canon XA20. I don't own a camera that nice lol, but the nearby university I have connections with graciously allowed me to borrow it for filming. I normally film everything on an IPad.

Hello
Terrific video, especially for kids. Tweetsie is a magical place!
Tweetsie Railroad Heritage Weekend Day 1 Sartuday August 26th 2023
Your video does a good job of showing just how hard an engine has to work going uphill after each switchback. Those grades are not a joke! Keep up the good work!
What a wonderful Christmas tradition! Great video!
This video is a W and Thomas is a W.
Hope to see you at the Model RR Club Again!
I'll be up there eventually, when I get my locomotives fixed lol
Great video! I think you did a great capture of the adventure!
So boring😢
What made it boring? I'm asking so I can make better content in the future 🙂
Б?ү
Love this footage and narration!
I meant to say Saturday afternoon at the beginning of the video, but I'm too lazy to go back and change it, so here's the explanation 😂
Woah
Great Video 😊
seen that pass folkston on sunday in the morning around 10am
i wish it was steam locomotive power
That's the dream. I feel like they'll do it again at some point in the future. If CSX could get a challenger out there, they could easily get NKP 765 or N&W 611 to pull it.
@@landonspain193 the challenger did it back in the 90s and in down town kingsport they was trying to turn it around on the Y and it came off track
@@BronsonOsborne I remember seeing that. It must've been expected that a locomotive with that large of a wheelbase would struggle on some of those mountain curves.
Thanks for preserving these traditions in video!
Thanks for sharing!
so apparently one of the traction motors in csx 2 blew. That’s why gevos led.
Huh, I was wondering why they had extra locomotives this year. I wonder what caused it to blow up?
Me too
Ello
Nice seeing you at the santa train
not only that for this year thomas was seen covered in paint splats
You know i was hoping to see 190 help thomas this year why was 12 doing it again?
Due to 12's small driving wheels, she produces more torque and tractive effort. Therefore, she is better suited to push Thomas and pull the excursion train. 190, on the other hand, was built quickly for the war effort and is lightweight, which causes her to wheelslip often.
Great video! Was nice to meet ya that day
Thanks man, it means a lot 🙂
Sorry about the audio of the first clip, my microphone was on the wrong setting and I didn’t realize until editing 😅.
Great video! I was on the Greenbrier Express that day. I may have seen you and not realized it was you. 😄
Not saying is will happen, but is it possible to have the former edaville thomas run here?
No, Tweetsie is a 3 foot gauge railroad. Edaville is 2 foot gauge. The organization that runs Day Out With Thomas has several different Thomas wagons in many different gauges. Edaville gets the 2 foot gauge one, and Tweetsie gets the 3 foot one. They also have Thomas in standard gauge, which is 4 ft 8 1/2 inches. Thanks for the question and thank you for watching!
Np! Nice vid btw. They need to bring back decorated Thomas’s like Halloween at roaring camp, but for an actual tour- and almost lik when they put up what looked like flags for a few events, but I’m glad they are moving from a simple 3 colors to more
The 1905 shay. Shay 5 is an amazing machine to be that old and still running
Shay 11 turned 100 in July of 2023.
Awesome video! But that is not a C&O 3 chime that's a homemade 3 chime. Also, the title says Class Scenic Railroad lol
Thanks for the info! I'll have to change the title lol. Thanks for pointing that out 😅
@@landonspain193 Welcome! Take care hope you had a good time.
Any idea what Shay 11 had on? It sounds like a 5 chime of some kind (due to its signature howl).

I apologize for the poor camera work. This was my first time filming model trains and I didn't have a plan of how I was going to go about it. There was a lot of frantic running around trying to catch passing trains, lol.
The track looks like it was recently replaced and new ballast was put down.
Are you the guy with the iPad?
Yes, I am lol

I hope one day to see Tweetsie Railroad (White Pass & Yukon) 190 in operation here sometime in the near future possibly.
She's an amazing sight to see! A true mechanical marvel. You can also see her sister in Pigion Forge at Dollywood as Dollywood Express No. 192.
I have always loved coming to Tweetsie!
Great
