The FLYING BANDIT, Frank Elmore
The following is the true account of Frank W. Elmore, narrated in his own words as given to the newspaper articles from that era.
It was the early 1930s when Frank's journey brought him to Gainesville, Georgia, where he helped to introduce the wonders of aviation to the town. Along with several co-owners, he acquired a Waco 10 Biplane and began offering flying lessons to the locals. Some of his early students included Mose Matthews, Everett Bell, Hugh Minor, Doc Stow, Albert Hardy, and many others.
In the early 1930s, America was experiencing significant changes and challenges on both economic and political fronts. The country was in the midst of the Great Depression that started with the stock market crash of 1929. As a result, by 1932, over 15 million people were without jobs. One of those individuals was Frank, who found himself in a desperate situation as he struggled to provide for his family. This is the account of how he came up with a solution to their predicament.

Daniel Miner's Civil War Journey: A 160-Year-Old Tale from the Heart
Переглядів 158Рік тому
A hundred and sixty years ago in the month of October, Daniel Miner sat down to address two letters to his family. In 1863 at the age of thirty-nine, Daniel had just joined the 36th Regiment of the Confederate Army and was three months later, on a train making its way through Tennessee to an undisclosed battleground. During his journey, he had to endure harsh weather conditions that began to ta...

Переглядів 182 тис.5 років тому
I made a video 31 years ago, driving down the Las Vegas strip. Instead of boring you with the typical driving around Vegas video, I decided to make it a bit more interesting by also showing the strip as it is today in 2019. The videos will be displayed side by side so that you can see the many changes that have occurred. To spice this video up even more, I’ve included brief clips of some of the...

Thanks for visiting my UA-cam Channel. I hope you enjoy the image and the effects that I've created. Please check out the other videos/images that I have been posting. Perspective of Illustration and Photograph: Massaponax Church
Переглядів 2308 років тому
I did this video to show the difference of perspective between an artist eye and the eye of photographer Timothy H. O'Sullivan. This was taken on May 21 1864 at the Massaponax Church, Va. It was titled "Council of War": Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, Gen. George G. Meade, Assistant Secretary of War Charles A. Dana, and numerous staff officers The drawing was made from a small photograph by Gardner. It ...
The execution of Captain Henry Wirz

This project is a little different from my previous 3D layered images. This is the story of the execution of Captain Henry Wirz, the commandant of the Andersonville prison, told by using a series of images from the Library of Congress. The opening scene begins on November 11, 1865 in the southern portion of the Old Capitol prison yard. The crowd, which had begun to assemble as early as 7 o’cloc...

If you like old Vegas, go stay at the Mardi Gras Casino on Paradise by the convention center. I've been staying there every time I go to Vegas for 10 + years. It's rustic, old, charming and absolutely feels like it's from another time.
Might as well be a different city. Everything has been demolished.
I think older cement building look better than the new glass ones that look like LA or new york
Never knew a water park existed on the strip
I would say Vegas was the best before 2000, it has become so cold and no longer caters to the lower income with attractions roadside.
Tropicana: 1957-2024
2 notable deletions are Hacienda where Mandalay Bay is and Dunes where Bellagio is. The Oasis bar facade @ Dunes was kinda iconic at the time. great video
So disappointed to find the old classic hotels and iconic neon signs gone when i eventually got there in 1998.
Well done. At least put the fabulous neon signs back up, as decorations. That would help the now-austere parts of the strip and bring back some magic.
Before the 90's, south of the Trop, Las Vegas was just a desert, stretching into the discance.
It would be great if more people would upload videos of old Vegas and Laughlin. Those were the best days of both places.
😢😢😢😢que hermosa era antes!!! La arruinaron😢
I loved the Redd Foxx clip.......
Wish I could go back in time, we had such good time in Vegas. we use to a a drop of a hat.
Imagine between 88 to 2019 how many hundreds of billions of dollars were lost in these casino's and how many hundreds of millions were won 🤔🤔🤔
I ate that $2.29 (about $6 today adjusted for inflation) breakfast buffet at Circus Circus. Now it's $23-$28.
Now it looks somewhat desolate with not much character.
Miss the old Vegas
Love this Ronnie. ❤️
I stayed at the stardust a couple ears ago, it was really run down but I saw Elivis
8:27 Wow that looks like the sphere. I know it's not the sphere that recently opened, but what an eerie premonition. Shoot, I looked at again a few more times, might just be a perfectly manicured tree. LOL
Not the real Vegas, the next generation I believe will definitely not love what the older generation enjoyed. The masterpiece is forever gone.
adapt to time change they say eh...
I use to watch the history channel, Lincoln kept sending supplies & troops ! Lincoln was furious & basically if you can't fight I'll send another General that can! When the President had to come to your tent he was furious. The picture taken was a photo op! Civil to not alarm the people up North or Encourage the South. That was the take I got from the history channel. Idk I wasn't there. How many Presidents go to the field!
great video. Harrahs was the Showboat when I started going to Vegas and New York New York was the boardwalk and was imploded
the dessert inn hotel implosion was October 23, 2001. Golf course inn at 2004
I think Vegas has made some big mistakes tearing down the classic, historical casinos people still loved just to put up some monstrous hotel.... just ushered in the more seedy side of Vegas
Ah, back when Las Vegas was Las Vegas.
Thanks for making. I've lived here since 1987. I knew things had changed a lot, nothing's ever allowed to get old in Vegas except the roads, right? Seeing the changes like this still shocks me.
another brilliant video thanks
No one but Halleck ever hollered at H.U.G. ...
thanks for adding the show's clips for non-usa viewers.
We used to laugh when we drove by Bob Stupaks Vegas world. We wondered who would stay at such a cheesy place??
My 2nd Great Grandfather was probably one of the POW's in the 1st photo. He was in the 41st Mississippi Infantry Company F. He was captured at the Battle of Missionary Ridge Nov 25, 1863. He spent the rest of the war as a POW at Rock Island Illinois.
feels like the only things that have stayed mostly untouched are the circus circus and the travel ledge Infront of it
I stayed at the El Rancho on my very first trip to Vegas with my dad 1989......It was a Shit hole!!! Still had a great time!
Exellent Video
Great job on the video, thanks for sharing. Cirque Sole shows all over are as passé today as topless reviews were in the late 80s.
Great Video.
First time going to Vegas was in the early 80's. It was fun and still had that old school feeling like you were in Sin City. Prices were reasonable and it was fun. Fast forward thirty years later, Vegas is in no way the valued vacation it once was. Table games on the strip today are a min. of $20-25. Not affordable.
😢😢😢
Terrific!
It's a damn shame they killed off the Stardust.
Thank you for all your videos Ron. The memories that have been enjoyed again after watching them is priceless. My father and I spent a lot of time in Vegas, most of the places we enjoyed together are gone. Your videos helped bring a piece of them back for me. Thank you!
Very cool. Well done
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I wish I could do more, but it seems my body issues are a limiting factor.
Very good but too bad was missing the Dunes and Hacienda.
Even this 2019 footage looks old in comparison to what the strip looks like today
cool video other than the piano background music on repeat
I have been living in las vegas for many years. And it’s surprising how much it changed
I wish you would have showed the dunes where bellagio is now and also the Hacienda where Mandalay bay is now or the old Board walk where Monte Carlo was at....I liked the rest of it and it's always nice to see old footage
