My first time at Oswego was for the 74 Classic, Joe had not yet started his driving career, I believe he was helping out the Gioia’s and in 75 or 76 as a reward they let him run their backup car. The rest is history, I have not seen a race in person at the Steel Palace in probably 35 years, in recent years Floracing allows me to view the action from our home in Montréal. I may have to go and attend a race this summer to cheer him on. GO 00 Joe 😊 Thanks for these interviews 👍

Drove my car at Atlanta (fin 12th) and Indy in 1983. Rookie had a lot of promise. Had a big crash in turn 1 that broke his ankle I think. I remember riding in the ambalance with him. Car was two years old and aero comprimised and we struggled to get a good setup but he stood on the gas.

Love the interview, love the person that interviewed love the business that he was interviewed at. Unfortunately Oswego does not produce good racing.. they’ve had multiple years of working on the track they’ve come up with the best dynamic that can possibly come up with and with perfectly good weather this past year all four major divisions of dirt racing they switch to nighttime racing to try to do away with that theory and guess what happened every Heat race winner and feature winner came from no deeper than sixth place. It’s boring. No one wants to hear about it. I don’t care how many times you wanna promote it. It’s boring.
