While the roots of metaphysical thinking go back far in human history, Plato’s “form” concept for example, MBE certainly seems to be the pivotal modern thinker from whose thought most of these movements are derived. Like it or not, I don’t see how to avoid that. Anyone discounting her work to build their own movement isn’t being truly honest. Hopkins notably as pointed out used Eddy’s statement of being as a keystone. Note: “The platonic Forms are abstract, perfect, unchanging concepts or ideals that transcend time and space…”

the reading of Science and Health has healed many people. God heals, when the human, mortal mind disappears. Hopkins woman, never heard of her, this is not correct.

Tried both--the Unity today is nothing like the Unity of the Fillmore era. They are now totally preoccupied with social and lgptq issues. God is a side issue. Christian Science? That "faith" can have you turn up dead. New Thought? Utter nonsense--try it and see how it works for you.

Mary I love her but she more against things then unity divine or religious science.she thought all others copied her but it’s here for all so that’s why I feel the others are easier .

Stop depicting Jesus pbuh as it’s blasphemy. Jesus pbuh is a prophet of god. The bible is not in its original form as it’s been changed.

Just a couple comments - you mentioned Nona Brooks and her sisters founding Creative Thought, but they were co- founders of the Denver branch of Divine Science (Creative Thought was a magazine published by Religious Science for many years). By the way, their original Divine Science textbook, Truth and Health by Fanny James (Brooks) is another outstanding book, I reread it once a year (I was fortunate to find a copy from the early 1900s containing the entire text 379 pages - all the copies since 1942 have been significantly revised down to 300 pages, cutting out the 30 days of daily guides, and the section comparing Divine Science with other religions, which is very fascinating and I don't know why they removed it). Of course, Malinda Cramer's original Divine Science textbook, Divine Science and Healing, is also worth a read. The other comment I had was about Emma Curtis Hopkins - you said you didn't know why she split from Christian Science. From what I read, she was deviating somewhat from Mary Baker Eddy's teachings, and she was kicked out of the organization. A couple other people who split from Christian Science and started their own movements were Col. Oliver Sabin, who started Christology, and Frederick L. Rawson, who started his own movement as well (I think it was called Absolute Science?). I highly, highly recommend Sabin's book Christology - it's one of the best expositions of Metaphysical healing I have ever read, and at the end, contains the "vibrating treatment", a very powerful affirmative prayer treatment I have used many times and it never fails. As for Rawson, he wrote a book called Treatment, or Healing Through True Prayer, which contains treatments for almost every possible ailment or inharmony you can think of (or easily modify them for something else).

I so agree with what you said about making so many changes! I first read The Science of Mind back in 2007, and it really changed my life. After that, i read all the other books by Ernest Holmes that I could find. I did also eventually read all of Mary Baker Eddy's books, but have a harder time understanding them, whereas Holmes writing seems more clear cut to me. Anyway, I do truly believe in and practice metaphysical healing (or spiritual mind treatment) and have gotten many good results. I have noticed, however, that in the official modern Religious Science literature (now Centers for Spiritual Living) that spiritual healing is hardly ever mentioned, and most articles are about relying on material medicine and using Spiritual Mind Healing as a crutch or last resort, whereas in the Christian Science Journal, which I've subscribed to for many years now, there are always testimonials of healing, and people using Spiritual Healing and getting results. I feel like that's because Mary Baker Eddy didn't allow any changes after her death, while Ernest Holmes left Religious Science "open at the top for greater inspiration", but what ended up happening is the teachings were really watered down. I have considered looking into a Christian Science church, myself, but on the meantime, I just practice on my own, using mainly The Science of Mind as my guide book, as well as Ernest Holmes' home study course. Spiritual Mind Healing does work, and I've experienced it many times in my life.

I think the metaphysical Renaissance is happening, but, sadly, today's young people think Unity and Christian Science are too like organized religion. Fortunately, Eckhart Tolle is bringing these teachings to the masses, and UA-cam has created a Neville Goddard following that is quite active. I have also seen a very active Joel Goldsmith following on UA-cam. My hope is that the curious seeker will, from those gateways, work their way back to Ernest Holmes, Mary Baker Eddy, and H. Emilie Cady.

Jesus was tortured for a small amount and it counted because he was GOD in his fullness and fullness of humanity, he was perfect in every way so his death was sufficient and it even back then the lambs gave us 1 year of forgiveness if we were isrialietes , he also gave a seperation for unintentional sin etc. the Gahane thing does not hold up ,The rich man and lazerus gives a PICTURE and neverr gives a hint or a dot that it was fake, PLUS God is so merciful he said "Hell was created for the devil and his angels" humans when they choose to follow evil and thus follow the devils ways they can't be in Gods presence because because God is so bright and loving and holy that you can't be around him so there is no where else to go but hell PLUS his mercy extends, Hell has stronger punishments for the worst of the worst according to scripture, Deconstructing can blind you, When you meet him, trust me its like even the rose colored programming glasses from childhood are taking off, LAKE OF FIRE can NOT be a metaphore at all, either it means destroyed with no torment , but it is torment , the smoke of their torment arises forever and ever, remember the sacrafices that Were a scennt to Got , hell is the same way, OUR LOVE is twisted so we can't understand GODS LOVE AND JUST AND MERCY, IF universalism was the go to then all through out the bible we would not see jesus facepalm or be in anguish anytime he was rejected , the LOT of warnings of hell and the devil and torment would not have the odds to all be metaphore, PLUS the bible if you read it all the way , The new testiment SAYS about jesus's comming, many times , it most likely won't be NOW, he sasys I don't want you to be fearful that the lord is coming now etc, he also couldn't give the endingof the coming away because even jessus says only the father knows ,jesus being the word probably means that the father hasn't even spoken it and JESUS is God but GODS WORD - etc. or he was just not in full God mode on earth. Your views come from men for comfrort but hell is not a big deal, the crux is human rejection and excuses in our heart because "when the lord returns will he find faith on the earth" So that also is a hint for what I said but also that his cming COULD NOT have been during the writing of hte bibles time, PLUS how can he come back when the bible did not go out to ALL of the world, It says JESUS will come after all have heard the gospel~ PLUS the word homoseual was IN THE BIBLE, There was no word so he created a word mixed with 2 words that combine to mean it, and romans goes all the way with no words and says "men burned in their LUST to eachother during the end times and discard the natural use of the women... is that pedophile ....dicarding the natrual use> then its the FIRST mention of and "even their women went with women discarding the men......

My doctorate in Theocentric Psychology also merged many high consciousness qualities of metaphysical science but underscored, for power, the Presence of God in YOU. The dissertation was titled "The Mind That Knows Not Itself: St. Matthew 6." A treatment of The Lord's Prayer as basis for theocentric therapy emerged along with three assessment instruments to mark spiritual growth and development. Kudos on your enthusiasm and knowledge base, supported richly by first-hand experiences.
