I absolutely love the trio of paintings you did of the pastel flowers! Gorgeous! Thanks for doing the tour!
Oh thank you ☺️
such a gorgeous tour, I love it, watched and enjoyed till the end 😊
Oh thank you ☺️
Did you ever get to try out the Flashe paint (sorry, I only recently started following)? I don't think it has any acrylic, so I wonder if you would be able to tolerated it as a substitute?
No i didn’t, I watched several reviews and reached out asking about smell, and a few artists have said that the paint does have an oder… which makes me a little hesitant to try. Though it is still on my list of supplies to try.
@@leahevergreenart That makes sense to be hesitant about a possible smell trigger. I'd be curious about what you think if you ever do try it out. The artists I've watched who use it seem to really like it.
Yessss love the video, it gives me inspiration as well! Cherry blossom are my favorites!
Oh thank you, glad you found this to be inspiring ☺️
Hi, enjoyed the video! I’m interested to hear how you get on with gouache. (I’m still trying to determine whether gouache and I are friends.) That’s one of the most orange-y vermilions I’ve seen. Vermilion is one of my favorite colors; one thing that makes it interesting is the varying concepts of exactly what hue it is. I’m with you on Ultramarine-that’s my go-to blue. One other thing: you mentioned burnt sienna as being sometimes useful in greens. That struck me, as I’d never thought of it in green mixtures. Any tips on how you use it in that regard?
Thank you, so glad you enjoyed this. So far gouache and I are still getting to know one another but it’s going well so far. Right! What an orange vermillion! With burnt sienna I like to make earthy greens, so if im mixing a bright yellow (like lemon yellow or primary yellow), and ultramarine, you get a beautiful green but if you want to make it more earthy, instead of adding a red I add burnt sienna to it. If you have burnt sienna try adding it to your greens, your mixes and out of the tube ones. Happy creating ☺️
@@leahevergreenart Thanks! I've only used a red of some variety to subdue my greens-will definitely try this!
Your pronunciation of hyacinth had me lolling. It's just hi-uh-synth
I knew I was saying it wrong…. Hahah
I think gouache will fit right into what you love to do. And if you get lucky and can use the acrylagouache for the times you don’t want something to move (I’m thinking similar to Neocolour 1 ) then maybe the exposure will be small enough that you can get away with it.
Thank you, so far, I am enjoying the gouache. I just need to buck up and test the Acryla gouache and see.
Maybe you have. But it would be great to see a comparison between the Pablo and Plolychromos. I have a whole set of the Faber Castel, and 27 Luminance but also live in Canada so they are super expensive.
They are super expensive, I like to keep an eye on Delta Art and Jackson’s (tho UK, and sometimes have to pay import) these two seam to be the lest expensive that I can find them, as of yet. As for the comparison between the Pablo and Polychromos… I can work on that for sure, thank you for the suggestion
Strange to hear to opposite of me. I have a chronic illness and I have no problem using my acrylics. I have 2 tubes of liquitex and those are the only ones that I cant use. With my Amsterdam and Winsor & Newton galeria I have no problems. Oils, pastels (soft and some brands of oil) and alcohol markers are a big no for me. Great video & even greater haul ❤
Do you mean the Liquitex brand or two specific Liquitex colours?
How many “pages” are in it and can you link it in your bio? Thanks!
There are two pages but one of them is large, it folds out. Here is the link www.leahevergreenart.com/the-ultimate-pencil-case
I love the hardness of the Pablo for detail, for instance in bird feathers and other animal detail such as eyes and hair. The crisp lines are so easy to achieve with a harder lead. Thank you for this video. It helped me decide on whether I should keep a set that I found for a steal!
Oh I’m so glad you found this helpful. And I agree, that harder lead is great for fine deals
Cool haul video
Thank you ☺️
Super tip for poscas! Press down to release the air, pump it a few times, then recap it and shake that mofo real good. The paint will flowing. 👍
👍 great Tip!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry that you found out that you are allergic to acrylic. I hope you find new joy and passion with gauge and other mediums. ❤
Oh thank you so much, I hope so too ☺️
I am so sorry to hear that you developed an allergy to acrylics, that must have been very stressful and devastating. I am surprised to see the Prussian blue in acrylics is so dark, cause I don't often see Prussian blue being this dark in watercolour / gouache. I think if you are seeking something similar in gouache (at least in terms of hue), u might be interested in Indigo from Winsor and Newton designer gouache/ delft blue from Schmincke Horadam gouache. But in general, I noticed there is a lack of darker blues (at least more affordable ones) in gouache compared to its cousin medium like watercolour. Maybe it has something to do with the pigments and the fact dark colours in gouache dries lighter and matt. I am not sure where are you based, but if you have access to buying Royal Talens' gouache in JARS. I highly recommend them for practice, because it is so affordable compared to other brands' designer gouache. It is also very vibrant and opaque in their primary colours. I don't really like their white though, so I recommend sticking to Holbein or other brands. The only downside is that some colours are kinda smelly and they are very sticky! But the sticky part can be fixed with adding watercolour medium (I use W&N) and stirring it here and there, then u will always have a nice consistency. Sorry for this long comment, but I really hope you can find gouache to be your new medium to thrive in!
Thank you so much for your insight and recommendation 😃, I’m thinking I may have to just mix my own version of Prussian Blue, but I will look into trying W&N’s Indigo. Finding out it was my paint was very hard and still is but I’m hopeful ☺️
I'm so sorry you developed an allergy to your acrylics. I have asthma and allergies too and so far I am ok with them, but I'm really glad I've been dabbling with literally every art supply I can get my hands on (except oils) so I won't be too sad if I do develop a reaction to them. I love gouache; I have the Caran D'ache set and the Himi set. I love the Himi set because it's so creamy and fun, but man, does it ever stink when it dries. I can't even stand to look at the finished Himi stuff as it smells like mold. I think I'm going to toss them. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your new supplies.
Thank you 😊 I was looking at the Himi but now that you said they smell… I think I’ll pass, thank you for sharing that because no one is talking about that.
Have you tried to varnish the paintings? Would that get rid of the smell once dried?
It’s nice you found out where you allergic to, but such a shitty allergy for an artist! :(
@@anne_hoi yes, I’m glad I was able to figure out what was triggering it but…. Yes…. A shitty allergy indeed 😔
Poscas don't give you any reaction? They are acrylic ink 😰 If not, I wonder what component it is exactly that they don't share 🤔
@ I haven’t had any reactions with the Posca I think because maybe one ingredient is different or maybe its due them being in marker form and so small. I’ll only know more with the larger ones as time progresses.
I had no idea that you could become allergic to acrylic, but I’m very sorry since it seemed to be one of your favorite mediums! On a positive note, I have been an avid gouache user for the last few months, and it paints like a dream. Once you get used to the consistency and value changes, it truly is a beautiful medium and I hope you start to love it as much as I do. Wishing you success,in your new painting journey as a Gouache artist, thanks for the great video!
@ oh thank you, I have been enjoying my experiments so far with it
How are the Marabu crayons different from Neocolor II?
@@TjVoelkerArt Marabu are more like oil pastels, they can be rubbed and smudged with your fingers (or tools). I have a review view of them if you would like to see it more in depth ua-cam.com/video/Z_hisL8qzfM/v-deo.htmlsi=pCoNIM2DIBd8u79h , I hope this helps ☺️
@@leahevergreenart thanks so much! I'll check that out.
Team Pablo here. I have the full set of Luminance and all the lightfast Pablos. I also have the full set of Polychromos, which I also love, but find the Pablos are more creamy and there are some lovely, muted light-fast colours not available in Polychromos. The sharpening issuing is important for me. My favourite sharpener is the SchoolSmart electric, which has an opening too small for the Luminance or various Derwent pencils.
Thank you for sharing your experience with these pencils. The Pablo’s really do make such a nice sharp point
Take your Matisse outside tp paint!!
I can't wait for this to become available 😀! Fantastic design Leah!🎉
@@CeruleanCzarina oh thank you ☺️ I can’t wait to share it with everyone
Thanks for sharing your supplies. 😊 Very relaxing to watch, and some interesting materials here-I'd never even heard of acrylic paint markers. Does this activation process have to be done each time they are used?
Oh you’re welcome ☺️, so glad you enjoyed it. As for acrylic markers the answer is a yes and a no. You wont need to activate them every time, when it starts to be less fluid, or scratchy you want to do it. Or if you don’t use them on a regular basis, and they sit around for a while. I like to shake them every time before I use them, just in case I need to pump them while use it. I hope this helps
@@leahevergreenart Thanks!
An interesting note, all pencils and this is coming from a pencil manufacturer scientist all coloured pencils have wax and oil in them. The only difference is the ratio and that’s why you hear of wax spaced pencils, or oil based pencils, although all of them have both.
Interesting, thank you for sharing
i cringed at the attempt at blending with horribly blunt pencil tips
Ooooh love the case! Can’t wait till they’re available!❤
Oh thank you ☺️ I can’t wait either!
I'm making a anime painting.. and you're coloring tip was perfect for her hair! Just wanted to let you know I gave you a like and I'm saving it to my painting tip list in case I need to come back for other mixtures 👨🎨🎨
Oh ☺️, Im so glad this helped you. Happy creating!
I have only several of the Pablo’s, but really like them. I love the colors of the Luminance, but find them very soft. I like to use the Luminance for skin tones in portraits. Thanks for the comparison review.
Both are really great and have the purposes, thank you for enjoying this ☺️
Thank you! So interesting. Yes, there are a lot of videos on UA-cam about the Neocolor 2s. But none so comprehensive as your’s.
Thank you, I’m so glad you found this and it was helpful for you.
wow you have so many! this is really interesting, I have the 2s 🥰
I do have a lot ☺️, im glad you found it interesting
this is a bit of a silly request, but can I ask hoe you customised your art supplies trolley? Im trying to improve mine
It’s not that silly…. I’m always playing around with them too ☺️ but currently my set up seams to work. the top levels are items I reach for the most, like paint brushes, Posca pens, pencils. Second layer is items I use frequently, like gesso, crafting paper. The bottom layers are for bigger heavier items or things I dont use as often but want to have easy access too, like colour charts, and all my different types of palettes. Hopefully this helps. Finding the right layout of them can really help with the flow of your creative process 😃 Enjoy creating!
Thank you for the reply! It's given me great insight!
I’m so sorry you had to deal with those acrylic paints! 😢I don’t know what I’d do if the acrylics I used smelled because I absolutely can’t stand using art supplies that have strong odors. It’s why I stay far away from oil paints as well. It might help to use masks or use the paints in a well ventilated room (but I don’t have access to either of those :( so I can’t say for sure if that’d help with the migraines)
THank you, it was tough, but they have gone too a new home and I hope they are enjoyed. What brand of paint do you use?
@@leahevergreenart I mainly use Liquitex basics because they were the cheapest haha. I have a few professional artist loft paints which are nice, though I can't seem to get artist loft level 1 acrylics to work well with me!
@@camelliaharpdarkthrope6462 I feel like not every brand is for every artist, it can be for many reasons.. smell.. or how it handles when using. Or even how it dries. If you’ve found one that works for you, thats wonderful.
Matte acrylics are NOT acryla gouache!
this looks stunning, watched and enjoyed till the end 😊😊
Oh, so glad you enjoyed it ☺️ Thank you
I want to know you like me and my company isn't a burden. I also want to stay home with my Twinings English Breakfast, my cats, and the short story I'm writing. 😂

💯 Agreed! Thank you for letting me know ☺️
@ just found your channel I have to catch up 😊
Yes!
I like to draw while I'm waiting.
So soothing and helpful, right?
Breaks me heart you don't like the wonderful Sennelier oil pastels. The best way to use them is as the final layer of a watercolor painting or to put the final touches to a watercolor or any other medium like a harder oil pastel. Senneliers are wonderful but not everybody likes them because they are too creamy.
Thank you ❤ for sharing this idea ! I have a painful chronic illness and I am at drs offices a lot …it never occurred to me to bring my art supplies in a neat small case to entertain and relax myself before the appointment ! I imagine it will feel waaaay better than looking at my cellphone .❤
Oh you’re welcome ☺️, I used to scroll on my phone but that just makes it worse I find. I hope this helps you during your next appointment.
I love this video...I am one of those who do not show their art to anyone... and i really felt seen in this video... thank you for sharing❤
You’re welcome ☺️ happy creating and being true to your creative needs
Loved the haul! I really wanted the POSCA white pen for highlighting. I still haven't been able to purchase one.
I do love using it, hopefully you feel the same once you are able to get your hands on it. I will not that some times it will have the colour underneath bleed into the white. Like for example if I am using an Ecoline Watercolour marker, the ink for that is strong and I often dont wait for it to 100% dry before I lay my Posca down. But I still love the look it gives so I use them all the time.
I really like the Pablo pallete. I wont lie, i also like the Luminance pallete. I am a pencil collector and artist. Im not sad that i got both sets. Having a ton of fun.
I have the 76 set of Luminance and was surprised how chalky they were. I’m going to use them, but I don’t see myself replacing them as they run out. The Pablos are actually my favorite colored pencil over all. I have the 12, 18, 40, and 120 set. The only pencil that is scratchy from time to time is the Ultramarine. Caran d’Ache, like all other brands, struggles with the blue to blue violet pigments.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I will say, that I love my ultramarine Luminance, it is smooth but there are times when it will have a bit of scratch, I’ve recently run into that this week, though I’m not surprised. Ultramarine is a grainier pigment overall for most things.
