You are a leader. You work hard. You deserve a beautiful life.
🔥🔥 Are we living a beautiful life? Leaders are achievers. We work hard, but what are we doing with our time outside of work?
Are we spending it with loved ones are we traveling? Are we having new experiences? Are we making memories?
Or are we exhausted, spending more time alone, scrolling on our phones?
Recently, I saw a statistic from Mel Robbins that on average people will spend what amounts to 20 years of their life scrolling on social media. 20 years!!

    Excellent synapsis Brooke. As a 57 y.o. construction manager, I have definitely experienced this dynamic. The story of Julie is an excellent example of how to connect across all generations. Empathy, compassion, kindness and non-judgement are traites that every human being responds positively to. Be present, connect, truely listen and watch as your value in the company rises along with everyone's attitude. 😊😊😊✨️✨️✨️

    I think the stats about GenZ not considering their job/career to be part of their identity might be age-related at this point. GenZ is still very young and at the beginning of their career, assuming their job is even on their chosen career path. I hope we don’t establish the narrative that they’re disconnected from their careers as a generation when it’s actually about being in their early 20s. I remember when that narrative was attached to millennials as well. I’m not old enough to remember it being attached to GenX but I’m pretty sure it was because the GenX label came about when the oldest X-ers were in their 20s and were perplexing to the boomers and the traditionalists. Maybe GenZ will never develop that career-based identity, but they might also grow into it. I think sometimes we really blur the line between generation and where someone is in their life path/career path.

      Thank you for your comment and adding this perspective! Gen Z are young and finding themselves. It'll be interesting to see how their projected generational characteristics are represented 10 years from now.

    Thank you Brooke for this insightful breakdown! I am definitely guilty of favoring certain generations but your video is a friendly reminder that comparing generations isn't helpful, instead I need to be more patient, and have a better understanding of how they show up in the workplace. #TeamMillennial #LearnToBeAdaptable

    I think that sometimes you have to stay late at work if there is an important objective to have completed before an impending deadline. I like what you said also about boundaries. I personally believe they set limits and help build mutual respect. I also think that leaving work on time is good if you have appointments or social engagements after work where people expect you or you promised to be there, such as on a date. Leaving work is then especially necessary. However I am a workaholic. Do you think so? What do you think?

    • @Brooke.Bernard
      @Brooke.Bernard 23 дні тому

      Hey! As a former workaholic, I understand the compulsion to stay late to meet an important deadline and sometimes it may be necessary. In some industries, there may be more time sensitive high pressure deadlines to meet. However, I think we should strive to make those occasions the exception and not the rule. I would argue that leaving work on time is necessary for us to live full well-rounded lives. It's hard to experience life, if you spend most of it in your office. It took me far too long to learn this lesson. And if appointments or social engagements, including dates, help us keep our promise to ourselves to leave work on time, then I encourage everyone to schedule something after work M-F. None of us are guaranteed time in this life and at the end of mine, I want to know that I lived well. How much I achieved will matter far less.

      Thank you. Personally, I work nonstop as a trial attorney due to the needs of my clients and their families. My rule however is work hard and play hard. I’ve been on trial every month in 2023 and the stakes are huge. However, I did happen to fit Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, Germany, Austria and Poland in the past 3 months (often just a couple of days each) But I’m back and it’s time to focus like a sniper, which I was. Precise. I’m a certified Wellness Coach and I fully realize what works for me might not be right for another, which is why an open ended interview is important to see what the needs of the client or individual you're looking to assist. Good luck in your UA-cam channel and I’ll be looking forward to more of your cool stuff. 🙂
