Is it possible to collect rain water to the barrel at the same time have water flow down the spout?

I would have attached the downspout outlet higher than the inlet to the barrel so gravity would cause better flow into the barrel.

I’m gearing up to do a big guerrilla planting all along a big creek in my area, steep bank, awful erosion, 0 management from anyone despite it being a very popular boating and fish spot. Gotta find some good trees now and mark them, cut them this winter and next spring get on the kayak and get some in! Anything will help… sorry for fishers getting hung up in willow, I’m sure they’ll leave enough broke off monofilament for me to feel much less sorry for them

How do you handle wind blowing the barrel if there isn't a lot of water in there?

Maybe I'm stupid, but I don't see how a donut-shaped object diverts ALL the water into the rain barrel? It seems like a portion would flow into the outer rim and then into the barrel while water coming down the middle of the spout would bypass the rain barrel off ramp. What am I missing?

Beware! Dont buy this if your barrel inlet is on the top of your barrel because eventually your barrel will overflow. There iis no shut-off. This diverter requires a side inlet to your barrel, that allows gravity to stop it from overflowing. They do not explain that in their information.

Metal shouldn't go with plastic. That metal faucet will crack the plastic barrel overtime due to the temperature of the heat. Plastic goes with plastic, metal goes with metal.

After five years my hose cracked where yours takes a sharp turn to get into your barrel. This was no doubt due to the stress at that point over the years. Ideally the diverted should have been mounted on the thinner side of the drain so that sharp turn would not be necessary. Are you aware of any diverter kits that attach at a right angle, and to which the hose is attached straight on?

Can this diverter also work as shut off? If water fills up the barrel then the water will fill the diverter’s outer layer and flow down from the inner circle to the downspout?

How do leaves and shingle gravel still flow down the downspout with the diverter installed. The hole in the diverter hardly looks like it will allow many leaves flow thru. Is this a problem. Thanks

I've got a bunch of ponds here in Florida, all sizes, and DUNKS DO WORK. They also last a long time.They have tadpoles and fish in them and haven't ever lost one. These are great!

Wearing gloves while using a drill can be dangerous. I know a guy that lost the tip of his finger by wearing gloves and using a drill. The glove got caught in the end of the rotating bit and ripped the tip of his finger off.
