That’s a great idea!! Thank you. 🙏 I have an IR lamp but normally don’t break it out unless the material is particularly tough to work with. Definitely going to try using a stick of some kind for the ends next time though, maybe an old broom handle? 🤔

50 ft is what I normally buy and that should be plenty - always good to have some extra though, especially if it will be your first time wrapping a car. That would be a cool combo, like a top hat wrap for a Model Y. Good luck with it!

@@wrapitupok I have a question. How do I prep the car before wrapping it? And I only have an open garage. Should I be worried about the dust going to stick to the car while wrapping it and causing bubbles?

You want to remove the side cameras and clean the entire car extremely well with 70% isopropyl alcohol. All crevices and everything. You should be fine with the open garage, just try to install on a day that isn’t super windy and wipe down every panel right before you wrap it.

18 yards, or 54 feet. It takes a lot more material than it should due to so many inlays and overlays. There are about 22 pieces on the front bumper alone.

Metro restyling is one of the best I’ve found. Avery is the most forgiving if you’re just starting out - 3M and KPMF are great as well. Avoid teckwrap and other cheaper brands as they can damage paint when removed.

Yes 3M is a bit easier to apply, or has been in the last few years since Avery increased the strength of their adhesive.

For most of our standard gloss, satin or matte colors it is around $3k for a full wrap on the Model Y. Vinyl does not offer the same level of protection as PPF, but it still provides a good amount and is far less expensive, plus it is easier to replace panels when they do get damaged.

First time wrapping a Model Y, I’ve been wrapping cars in general for years tho. Next time my shop gets another Tesla in I’ll be sure to make a few more walkthrough videos 👍

I’m sorry to hear that 😞 If you get air bubbles and can’t lift them out the best thing to do is poke them with a small needle, heat and slowly push the air out through the opening. I’ll make a video on it 👍

Ah sadly I don’t have any close-ups, that is a good idea for next time though.

PPF is always wet apply, this is 3M 2080 series vinyl wrap film. Most premium vinyl film is dry apply.

Sorry 😂 I messed it up a bit on that part tbh and skipped over it because I didn’t want to show what NOT to do lol. That back curve is pretty tough. I will include the whole thing in my next videos though now that I know how to actually do it.

We are located in Oklahoma. I would probably expect to pay between $400 and $600 for just a roof wrap. Maybe a bit more if you’re wanting the antennae wrapped as well.
