The fact that this is still bringing me comfort all these years later, different issues and stages than I was dealing with back when this came out, is why I will love this band forever.

I was just re-watching this video and thinking about all the different locations that I could recognize that they used for filming. It was a LOT, and they were spread over an area covering a couple of hours of driving time (Signal Hill, The Battery, multiple downtown St. John's locations, mid-town St. John's including the Memorial University campus, west-end St. John's, Brigus, The Ocean Sciences Center in Logy Bay, a boat on Conception Bay, Topsail Road for the Tely 10 runners, and in all honesty, some places I don't recognize with certainty like the setting in front of the rock on the barrens, and is the hilltop at the end the one over Middle Cove Beach?). And if I'm right on which bunkers they were in, they would have had to lug the gear down walking trails to get to them. Filming this must have taken place over a period of days. Amazing.

I was 19 when this song came out and this album changed my life... and I turn 33 in a month. Remember thinking how far away that felt listening to this song back then.

I loved this song when I heard it ages ago and for some unimaginable reason I could not find it for years despite still remembering half the lyrics, nobody I spoke to and no search engine or song finding app could point me in the right direction of this song despite me remembering the whole starting line: “this hotel is cheap and my pillow stinks and there’s not a single thing to say it’s Christmas Eve” which you sure would think would have been more than enough to find this song but it’s taken literal years and a full 2 and a half days of 0 sleep to find it. But now I have. 🥺 🥺
