    Thank you so much dear Kismet 💐🫶, I am due for this procedure soon, at least I hope „soon“. I shall get a coverdenture, which seems a relatively new kind of denture? Do you know about those? Anything interesting to tell me about those, please? I have two remaining canines at the bottom where they should be placed. I would appreciate your opinion very much Kismet.

      An overdenture is a denture that is built over remaining natural teeth/root structure. It’s not new but it’s also not super commonly done. I’m guessing your provider would like to keep the tooth structure of your teeth intact in order to preserve the existing bone structure surround the tooth/root.

    Great info. I’ve been watching videos for several weeks getting ready for my full dentures process. I’m on day 7 now and I feel quite fortunate to have found your site right before I had all my teeth (22) extracted. It hasn’t been plesent by any means but luckily it hasn’t been as difficult as I feared and prepared for. And at 74 years old I’m quite happy about that. Been following all the instructions to the letter and it has payed off. I didn’t have any issues at all until day 4 when I started getting a good bit of swelling. But as of today (day 7) it has gotten much better. Q: I have noticed many providers have different opinions on how many days a patient should leave the immediate dentures in overnight before sleeping without them for the first time. Could you share your opinion on the subject? Keep up the good work. You are a great asset to all of us going through the process and we thank you for your genuine concern.

    • @DentureexpertofYoutube
      @DentureexpertofYoutube 12 днів тому

      I advise my patients to leave them in for 72hours before removing them at night. It’s not that you have to remove them then, but you can. Honestly, if it’s not uncomfortable then you can continue to sleep in them and it might be better if you do for a bit, since your fluids shift to your head while you are lying down asleep which makes your gums more swollen throughout the night and difficult to insert in the morning. Just be sure to clean the dentures before bed if you are going to sleep in them❤️

      @@reptiletailz108 You are absolutely ok to sleep in them and I prefer my patients do during their healing process as the tissues are conforming to the denture. Even after healing it is perfectly fine to sleep in your dentures, just clean the dentures before bed. • @DentureexpertofYoutube

    • @isabelarrastia6946
      @isabelarrastia6946 17 днів тому

      Oh good! Do I have to specify that this is what I want at my permanent denture scan? That’s coming up on 12/2. Only upper dentures, clearly and my extractions were on 8/5. I’ve got immediate dentures, which are okay, but so bulky.

    • @DentureexpertofYoutube
      @DentureexpertofYoutube 17 днів тому

      @@isabelarrastia6946 yes. Definitely specify. Just curious why you want it though? I’m guessing to strengthen the material? Just be aware that acrylic can still break even with a mesh. What typically breaks a denture is when it is too loose and starts to flex against the forces of chewing. The best way to keep the denture from fracturing is to always keep up on relining and replacement of dentures as indicated when the mouth changes

    • @isabelarrastia6946
      @isabelarrastia6946 16 днів тому

      I want the mesh in place of the acrylic or the acrylic with a mesh across the palate to make it lighter somehow… I fully intend to do this 100%, otherwise what’s the point.. I don’t want them to crack or be damaged in anyway. I’ve been listening to you for awhile and you give the clearest, cleanest and honest advice. These dentures are fine, I just think they could be better and lighter . Not sure how to ask or phrase my thoughts to my dentist?

    • @DentureexpertofYoutube
      @DentureexpertofYoutube 15 днів тому

      @ the palate needs to be solid all the way across in order for you to get suction. I totally understand what you’re saying-that you want it as light as possible. When I make dentures I thin the palate out to about 2-3mm and contour the outside of the palate where the tongue is to be the same contour as the patient’s mouth so that it feels as natural as possible. One of the issues with a lot of dentures that some providers make is that the palate is too bulky so the tongue is displaced and speech is difficult. When speaking to your provider, tell them that you want the palate to be as thin as possible and for it to be contoured and shaped as close as possible to the shape of you palate. I hope this helps❤️

    I'm nearly in tears after watching this. I had what was left of my upper teeth removed in 2010 and got my denture then. Despite trying for weeks at a time more times than I can count, I could never get used to it because its so thick. I honestly think I was the 1st patient the dentist attempted to make a denture for. The teeth are about twice the size that my natural teeth were and it was also made crooked which is very obvious, which I told them. The place I went to was out of business a short time later, so I was stuck with it the way it is. I had decent dental insurance then, but now am disabled on medicare and medicaid which covers almost nothing. This is the 1st vid I've ever seen with a professional who seems to care and gives me hope that getting it fixed is even possible. I have a very long story about why my teeth rotted from a young age. I'm 52 now and haven't confidently "smiled out loud" since before I turned 19. I'm not sure where I'll turn for help next, but this vid makes me think it might be possible to find a dentist in my area of Michigan who might actually care and want to help. THANK YOU !!!!

    First, thank you SO MUCH for doing this! I’m so excited to be going for my 24 extractions and immediate dentures on Monday!!! I spent my child and adulthood taking many steroidal (I was premature and had health problems) meds, killed my teeth and they were always TINY. Don’t know what it’s called or if it’s genetic, sadly my two oldest daughters have tiny teeth too. Anyway, I’m now 41 and have literally wanted to have a smile that portrayed on the outside how I felt it should look. I can’t begin to tell you how big this is for me. God bless my mother, for saying sis, just do it and we’ll figure out the cost. My health actually requires them to be gone as well😒 All that to get to this question: Will I be able to decide the size and shape of my teeth even though my previous were TINY.? I mean I want a mouth FULL of giant teeth when I smile. I want it to just be blindingly beautiful and REALISTIC. I truly can’t wait, but would love to hear from you about this, as I’m sure there are implications regarding jaw size and bite, etc.. Again, thank you for doing this❤

      @@Mphscat oh no!!! The midline is sometimes hard to gauge. It helps to take a straight object like a pencil and hold in front of the face to get a perspective of the actual middle of the face. The nose can throw the eye off as it can be a bit off center. The lower teeth can also throw off the eye because the lower teeth midline does not always lined up with the top teeth midline. He asked me if I brought them. I told him, NO. I thought you did them. LOL He said, "I don't do that, I'm the surgeon!". Dental office totally dropped the ball on me. SO, I had them pulled and here I sit waiting 4 months for things to all shrink up and heal, so I can get a top denture and a bottom partial. Should I wait 6 months as I just heard you mention? I have an appointment with the dentist on Tuesday, so he can check how things are healing. I seem to have a lot of shards that my gums have healed over. I would think those need to be removed, before a good mold an be made. Do you agree with that idea? This process so far has been rather bizarre. I just want a pretty smile back and to be able to chew foods I like. I enjoy your videos. I learn something from every one of them. Thank you!

      @@happy.homestead I’m so sorry that the ball was dropped in your case😢 So there are two options for you: You can have molds made and have the dentures made to those molds now, however your mouth will still change somewhat over the next two months and you will then need a Reline to tighten the dentures up once you are healed. This is still a great option for you as you will have dentures right away and the majority of your healing has taken place. Or: wait until 6 months when your healing is stabilized, then have molds made and the dentures fabricated. In either scenario, you will be able to have the dentures set in wax before they are processed so that you can preview them to make sure that you are happy with the way the teeth look and the provider will be able to verify that the bite is perfect. I think both options are great options, so long as you understand that in the first scenario you will have to have relines done down the road. If I can answer any other questions please don’t hesitate to ask😊

      @@DentureexpertofUA-cam I would prefer to have the best fit possible, so I guess I'll be waiting until the end of January. ha! Thank you for your wonderful explanation of it all. I sure do miss steak and sub sandwiches. haha Not enough to having to go through reline/s, though. I'll do my best to push through and wait the 6 months. Thank you again. Much appreciated!!

    I think the dental providers as a whole can't relate to the challenges of wearing dentures. Plus in order to get the midline and general look of the teeth correct is a challenge for them also. At 63 I can remember when we got quality pain medicine after painful procedures but that is no longer the case for those of us that are allergic to codeine and hydrocodone (makes me throw up). Just nothing about this is pleasant.

      This is definitely true to an extent. I’ve been doing this for decades. I grew up working in my parent’s denture clinic. They both had dentures since they were teens. I do not have dentures. I have had many dental procedures and some implants, however I cannot possible know what it is like to be the patient. I am a Denturist and a denture expert to the extent that I have been fitting, fabricating and trouble shooting dentures for patients of all backgrounds and ages for many many years in my own practice.❤

      @Mphscat Me too! However, I'm going to do everything thing I can to schedule an appointment with her. I'm willing to travel from Texas to Oregon to see her. She said she's booked for a couple of months out. I feel like she could make me dentures that I could actually wear. Being able to sit with the Denturist and have them make them with your input is so valuable to me vs. some dentist sending my molds to a random lab. I've been looking for a Denturist for three years. There doesn't seem to be many of them out there, and I haven't been able to locate one in Texas at all.

    Hello, I love your videos. I have top dentures for 2 1/2 years. My bottom teeth are going going and almost gone. I’m so depressed because I do have Tori and I know it will be a long process. I did think about getting snap on but They are not 100%. I’m going to be 76. This video was extra comforting, knowing you seem to understand. I’m not sure if this makes much sense but again I am very depressed about this. Thank you

      @@annieroberts1910 You are absolutely correct with your thoughts. Having sore throat pain is a straight forward sign to me, as a denture provider, that the denture is too long under the tongue area. The lingual flanges (winged areas under the tongue) need to be shortened to relieve this discomfort.
