Didnt know 2.4i manuals are so hard to find over there! I achieve about 30-32 mpg, which isnt great but its not too bad considering its a N.A. 5 cilinder. And indeed some repairs have cost me a fortune haha. So indeed you win some you lose some!

Same here in Ireland, had to settle for a 1.8 S40, I would've had better luck trying to import one from the UK. Out of all the Volvos for sale here almost all of them are either diesels or automatics.

​@@lukemallory7832Apart from the usual anual services ive had to change both front wisbones, both drive shafts and I am about to change all the engine mounts. Not that they are in desperate need to change, but i will do those preventively. These 5 cilinder engines are a lot heavier than the Ford 4 cilinder engines, and as it platform is from a Focus, it requires a bit more maintenance. But the sheer joy of driving it trough the bends with my spec (2.4i with R-design on 17inch Michelin tires) makes it worth it!

@@jarnovdh03 a 7.5 time to 100 was decently fast back then, now compared to modern cars it appears so slow :(

@@dragosxtc1901 Keep in mind the E39 is a rather large 4 door car. It is extremely comfortable, heavy, and ESPECIALLY sturdy. I can not stress it enough, how modern cars despite being heavy, don't feel half as sturdy. The noise insulation, the suspension, the materials. It is all so sturdy. Nothing feels flimsy, weak, or brittle. And on top of this, the E39 is quite roomy, and has a large trunk. So the fact that it can get to 100kmh under 10 seconds is pretty impressive. And thanks to the suspension and overall stiff feeling of everything, it still feels nimble to drive.
