With over 1,500 active volunteers a year, the Volunteer Services department at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics provides various services and programs which assist patients and their families. Visiting with patients, delivering mail, flowers and emails, cashiering at the Wild Rose Gift Shop, knitting baby hats for newborns, sewing sock monkeys for pediatric inpatients and serving food at the Rooftop Café are just a few of the 100+ jobs available to volunteers. Through the Volunteer Services sponsored businesses: Fourth Floor Salon, Rooftop Café, Wild Rose Gifts and partnerships with the Java House and Wild Rose Books, volunteers provided an additional $187,000 in funding to UIHC.
