I actually agree, he's more like a grumpy uncle and is more of an older brother/mentor figure to scott and jean whereas if romance he seems more fitting with Storm as he took her nephew under his claws, which actually make sense

Channing was fantastic a Remy(GAMBIT). It was such a shock for me to see him as Gambit as Wesley Snipes reprising his role as BLADE. The Deadpool & Wolverine movie completely sucked to me and it disappointed me greatly but the best parts of the movie was when Gambit, Blade, and Elektra were on screen. I personally didn't like the Deadpool & Wolverine movie. The plot was all over the place and there were too many superhero cameos. Way too many cameos!!! I was happy to hear Deadpool & Wolverine is the highest grossing R rated movie. Should be close to over 2 billion at box office by now
