If the goal of the blue tabs is to ensure they dissolve in water. Can’t you just fill the bottle with water first and then add the Blue tab at the end? I know the instructions say to add the tablet first and then add the water.
What is a daily protocol when using tx tabs?
Testing should happen before shocking, to give an accurate portrayal of the real condition of the DUWL. Shocking should happen regardless. Test, Shock, Maintain is the appropriate order. The way this video is stated makes it sound like you should shock and then test, and thats incorrect.
Do you start the timer right before you flush the first water line with the bleach solution or after you flush all the water lines with the bleach solution. Also do you start flushing one water line after 10 minutes or all the water lines should start being flushed starting with 1 waterline after 10 minutes
I didn't see you guys change the straw, do I need to do that?
What is straw treatment? You talk about it at about 1:08
"promo sm" 🎊
What a great, insightful video!!
Do we shock, test, and then treat? I use the blue tablets I just wanted to make sure I'm not testing with the tablets when I test. 🙏🏽
So quick question, after the system shock can I just detach the bottle and then use it to shock the second unit instead of discarding it?
Hi Cyrus! Great question. Yes, you can use the remining shock solution in your water bottle to shock additional units. If you have any more questions regarding shocking, treating or testing, please email us at support@proedgedental.com and we would be happy to help!
How can I get the Waterline Testing Log?
Hi Hilde! You can find a PDF copy of the QuickPass Waterline Testing Log on our resources page at proedgedental.com/resources.
If I have 5 operatories and order 2 kits may I scratch one off and put #5 on the vial to send it all together?
Hi Agnes! If you have 5 operatories at your location, it would be best to order the 6-vial kit to ensure you have enough vials. If you give us a call at 888.843.3343 Opt 1 we can take down your information and place the order for you through your dental supply company.
@@ProEdgeDentalWaterLabs thank you for this information 🙏🏼
So this means if I have 5 rooms I need 4 to 5 vials per room? Since I have to test each line seperate? I was told to put a little bit of water from all lines in every room and use 1 vial per room is that wrong?
Hi Agnes, great questions! You are doing what's called "pooled sampling", which we recommend! It's taking equal parts from each device in a single operatory and pooling them into a single sample vial. You can checkout more on that here: proedgedental.com/resources/pooled-sampling/
@@ProEdgeDentalWaterLabs ok great thank you so much. And am I able to do this for the samples that I send with flo?
@@AgnesVelez absolutely! Some CHCs or GOVs do regulate you test per line, but if you are with a General Practice or DSO that allows pooled sampling, you can select "pooled/combined" next to each sample vial row as you fill out the submission form.
@ProEdgeDentalWaterLabs wow thank you so much for all your help. Now just waiting for the results 🤞🏼🤞🏼
@@ProEdgeDentalWaterLabs is there a number or email i may use to contact someone regarding questions on my last results?
How do you treat if you dont use water bottles?
Hi Pamela, that is an awesome question! For better or worse we strongly recommend retrofitting your chair. There are a tremendous amount of benefits in being able to control water quality directly from the water bottle and of course you have the benefit of being able to shock your dental unit waterlines from the water bottle. It's CDC and OSAP recommended and relatively inexspensive per operatory. You can check out more here if you are interested: proedgedental.com/resources/benefits-of-water-bottles/
How do you change a water bottle different from the one you are showing. Our bottle is different
Sharon, thank you for reaching out and great question! Sounds like you might have an A-dec dental unit with their bottle? Whether it's that or another one, we can help talk you through changing the bottle. Visit proedgedental.com/support/ to call, email, or setup a complimentary 1-on-1 consultation with a Safe Water Specialist.

How do you shock dental cavitron water line
How do you shock dental cavitron water line?
Am I wrong that 1 part bleach to 9 parts water is actually a HIGHER concentration bleach than 1 part bleach to 13 parts water??? If fact, one part bleach to 9 parts water should be 10% bleach solution, right? Part over wholeX100= percentage.
Hi Kavity! Thanks for reaching out. Yes, you are correct: 1 part bleach to 9 parts water is a higher bleach concentration over the 1 part bleach 13 parts water. It is a 10% bleach/water solution. If we can provide more resources or information on the shock processes, feel free to schedule a consultation with one of our safe water specialist here: proedgedental.com/consultations-with-proedge-dental-water-labs/ - The Team @ ProEdge
This is assuming that you have a pure 100% bleach to begin with… but that’s not the case with the bleach solutions you buy from outside, they usually range from 5% to 8% bleach and that’s why they do that 1 per 9 and 1 per 13 based on that concentration
For the high speed handpiece line, does a hanpice need to be on or without?
Hi Christina, great question! When shocking, if you are able to remove the handpiece, we recommend doing so. However, if it is unable to be removed, you can shock through it.
What if monitoring office who is on municipal water supply gets a fail? We are unable to shock waterlines.
Do we still flush for 1 minute with cool water filtering the warm water flush?
Great question Susana! We recommend that you do. This will help cool the lines and make sure the water is patient ready!
Do you still need to use BluTabs with this system?
Great question! With BluTube you don't need to use BluTab. BluTube's two cartridge system continuously treats water for 1 year. The only additional step we recommend is that you shock your lines, this helps set BluTube up for sucess! You can check that video out here: ua-cam.com/video/h-4M71funSo/v-deo.html
do the dental chairs have to use distilled water
Wow, you are one egg identical twins!
This is hilarious Kelley and Kellie. You are the best!! Thanks for having such great teaching videos!!
Glad you liked it, Monica! Dental waterlines don't have to be boring, at least that's what we always say around here :)
Great video! I'll have to send this to my clients!
Best waterline installation video I've seen!
Very helpful and fun!
Brilliant!
Thank you for posting this video
Thanks for this video. I have a question, what if their is no bottle in the dental chair and it is directly connected to the main water supply?
Hi there! It's a great question and we wish there was a easy answer! But unfortunately, without dental unit water bottles, there is no way to shock. And if you can't shock, there's no way to have full control over your dental unit waterline environment. This is one of the main reasons the CDC recommends independent water reservoirs. So, the best solution is retrofitting the dental units to have water bottles. This can be done relatively inexpensively with a retrofit kit from your service tech. It's not fun to hear, but it is something we highly recommend if the practice wants safe CDC-compliant dental unit waterlines. If you'd like to discuss it further, call 888.843.3343 and one of our specialists can walk you through it.
how often should I do it . ? If there is any scientific paper or research can I read it ? Thanks
Great question! It largely depends on your treatment protocol. For best results, use the ProEdge 3-step protocol (proedgedental.com/3steps) which recommends shocking a minimum of quarterly. However, the only way to know the proper frequency is to test your waterlines frequently, which also is recommended at quarterly (You can learn more about testing recommendations here: proedgedental.com/osap). If you'd like to walk through your office specifics, don't hesitate to give us a call - 888.843.3343!

Is bleach in evacuation lines bad?
Tricia, yes! You never want to put bleach (or any waterline shock product) down your evacuation lines.
Can you give me a better measurement to mix the bleach in a 2 litter bottle please? I'm not sure how to measure 1 part bleach to 13 parts water. Thanks!
Tricia, often the best way to do think about this starts with not thinking about bottle volume at all. What matters is that they are equal parts. So, if you have a little patient cup that you use for rinsing, simply fill one of those with water, and then fill that same cup with water 13 more times. That's assuming you're using bleach with 8% concentrate. If it's 5 or 6%, you'll want to do 1 part water to 9 parts water.
If you're still not clear, give us a call and we can walk you through it a bit further - 888.843.3343. We want to make sure you're confident in shocking! It can make a big difference :)
Very helpful just started using this in my office
This is a great update. Thanks for being a sound voice in this!!!
Thank you SOOO much for this video. This is so informative and confirms what I've been feeling about aerosols and HVEs.
