"Lord Mountdrago" starring Orson Welles - Part 3 of Three Cases of Murder | Crime Drama Mystery

This part of the anthology is a supernatural mystery/revenge story about a man with the ability to enter other people's dreams and the man who wronged him. I came across the whole movie on YT. It consists of 3 separate unrelated stories. I found this, part 3 starring Welles to be the most interesting. This could have been a good "Twilight Zone" episode. From Wikipedia: "Orson Welles received to...

Thanks to my friend Pete, who talked me into going in spite of the impending thunderstorm, I got to see guitarist and songwriter Mdou Moctar and his band at Rumsey Field in Central Park last Saturday, July 29, 2023. The concert was part of the Summerstage series of outdoor concerts in New York City and it was awesome! Thanks to some friends who were there first, we had a nice spot very near the...

This song resonated through time and gave birth to other genres. Namely it paved the way for Punk and stripped-down music like Power Pop. For my generation it made the Knack's My Sharona a possibility. I also feel the influence of the song in many other nuanced ways that are not as obviously discernable. It was truly groundbreaking.

You Really Got Me was not Heavy Metal music. Distortion is not what created Heavy Metal. Purple Haze (recorded in 1966 and released in 1967) was the first Heavy Metal song. How could anything the Kinks made compare to the deep Heaviness of Jimi Hendrix. The Kinks sounded like a kids band compared to Hendrix. The Kinks distoration may have sounded incredible compared to what they had soundwise before Hendrix. But, the Kinks were NOT Heavy Metal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

Link Wray was poking holes in his Amp speakers with a pencil in 1958 way before Davies did in 1964. Listen to Rummble. Instrumental was banned from the air ways in many cities at the time.

About 3 years before "You Really Got Me" was released, "Don't Worry" by Marty Robbins featured one of the first instances of guitar distortion. A channel in the mixing board went bad during recording and they finished the song. Robbins didn't like the sound but they wound up releasing it with the distorted sound. The sound was reverse engineered to produce one of the first guitar pedals.

I always liked Ray Davies and the Kinks and they are definitely a major contributor to the start of Heavy Metal but not sure I would go as far as to say they "started it" Bands like Judas priest who are considered the god fathers of heavy metal and black sabbath etc. are probably more deserving of the title.
