Yea, I'm not a big Ford guy, but I enjoyed the Escape. It's definitely a good little vehicle.

Yea, it's the same with everything! Rotory phones, cast iron pans, heavy long-lasting equipment, all replaced with cheap disposable crap.

Like how the shifting works? It was my brother's truck and he's sold it, but essentially the 1st shifter was a high and low, while the 2nd shifter was the normal gears. This allows you to split the gears so a 5 speed becomes a 10 speed. You put the 1st shifter into low, and 2nd shifter into 1st, pull out, and then shift into high, then when it's time to shift, clutch in, shift into 2nd, and low, then high, ect ect. He could be more informative on it than me, though.

@torqueracingproduction Me, personally, I'm better at duck. Cut in and bird hunting than I am at deer hunting. The 1 year I was able to go. Because I had the money to do it. What's so cold? I couldn't even stand sitting out there more than a couple hours and I saw nothing. So I decided to go in. No I fell asleep or got distracted. And didn't get back out there. Because I lived right on the property.

I would weigh the car now and then you can calculate an estimated weight savings for the carbon stuff to see if your close or not. There's a few weight reduction mods you can do that doesn't cut into creature comforts or looks. $300 seems suspiciously dirt cheap for even a carbon fiber hood alone, but a whole kit? That's wild. I would imagine they car 3 layers of fiberglass with 1 layer of outer carbon, which alot of companies will do to sell cheap parts.

Thanks! Well, the previous owner said the odometer was rolled over back to zero, putting it over 100k, and I've owned it since 2011 using as my daily, as well as tow rig for race events that had me traveling 1 and sometimes 2 states over. If I had to guess, this old gurl should be in the ballpark of 300,000+ but who knows really.

As a small business owner, I definitely acknowledge capitalism for my ability to start my own business, but I do agree that there isn't any good control to prevent larger businesses from selling garbage for the intent of making more sales due to parts failure.
