After nearly 10 years I decided to reunite with the saltwater reefing community on UA-cam! My passion for saltwater aquariums started when I was around 15 years old and after taking a break for personal reasons I decided it was time to revive the Aqua Reefs channel all to find out I lost access to my old channel. Today I feature my original channel right here on ARTV's channel! Feel free to che...
Do you think water box have the clearest glass on the market?
Hi there! To be perfectly honest with you, yes! That is one feature of my WaterBox tank that I absolutely love! you can really put your face up to the glass and see all the details of the fish on their scales and their coloration pops really well! Especially after scraping the film algae off the glass! I've looked into other tank manufacturers such as RedSea, Cade, IM, Maxspect, and JBJ. WaterBox just stood out the most to me after taking a lot of time to weigh my options.
What’s that thing in the filter sock slot?
It’s called a Klir Di-4 drop in Fleece roller! Great concept for those who don’t wanna modify their sumps to fit other fleece rollers. The first generation had mixed reviews but I got my hands on the second generation that has the new motor and sensor and it honestly has worked great so far! The waterbox has been running almost 5 months now and I haven’t had to change the roll yet! Granted the tank didn’t have anything to remove the first few months other than fish waste and a little bit of fish food but now things are beginning to take place in the tank. I’ll actually be uploading a big update video on the Waterbox this Thursday!
@@aquareefstv thanks so much for getting back to me, I’m actually getting the exact same tank soon, it’s going to be my first salt water tank 😁
@@aquareefstv yo were is the big update video? Was looking forward to watching that
I don't like this brand cause I saw ATOs in the sump being crazy small. A waste of space. For this tank, mmm to small for my taste. Sooner or later you realize nothing fits inside.
I can see the ATO being a reason for some reefers to choose to steer away from WB. I replenish my reservoir once every Monday which is pretty decent for me personally but I do intend on getting a 10 gallon ATO water container from RedSea specifically for the times I fly cross country for vacations to see the fam. But I have plenty of room for all of my controllers and equipment on this setup. I even have future equipment mapped out too. But for me, I chose WaterBox because of its high quality. Other brands had well known leaking issues and im in an apartment complex so I went with the best option possible and felt Waterbox had a solid reputation for holding up. I’ll most likely experiment with other brands in the future whenever im ready to move into a house of my own! New content coming soon though!
@@aquareefstv i made this commment log ago before I realize that RS is not good quality. Just marketing. Im also for waterbox and a bigger ATO.
I just got my 125.4 with aluminum frame and want to share as well. I've never had an issue with putting furniture together before but the directions are horrible. Lots of ambiguity and bad illustrations.. Some of the frame is also preassembled and one piece they shipped was broken (a metal piece that should have been checked before sending) that they call a "locking mechanism". The design is weird to me. It seems like the locking mechanisms that join the pieces of aluminum together should be done only to connect pieces horizontally. Then a solid piece of aluminum should be placed on top of that like I've seen on other stands. Instead, these stands are designed so the part where two pieces meet and are joined with one of these mechanism actually takes the weight of the tank. I don't get why they did it that way. So if one of those fails, does the tank fall? I have no idea but the back right corner of the stand can't even take the weight of my 160 lb self right now. It definitely doesn't instill the confidence I was expecting with an aluminum stand vs wood.
I can agree on how the directions are terrible in the book. Definitely not clearly shown at all. Even some of the plumbing illustrations are not clear. I actually had to undo my return pump plumbing while the sand and live rock were already in the tank with the water cycling (next video coming out). The hammerhead screws were the biggest pain for me personally but I triple checked to make sure the stand had no play and was leveled before even putting the tank on it. This is personally my first experience having one of these official reef tank systems. I come from the simple Top fin/Aqueon tanks so the assembly of this system was definitely daunting for me. Sorry to hear that you had some critical pieces arrive broken. I know WaterBox has incredible customer support so I would recommend reaching out and im sure they’ll replace it with no questions asked!
Get the sandbed also
Twice a month has worked great for me.
I just brought one of these 2nd hand and tank looks great currently setting it all up. But mine don’t come with a light or stand for a light like you have on the rear, not sure we’re to find one and ideas? Thanks
First of all, Congrats on getting a WaterBox Marine X 60.2! Secondly, the light was not included, however, I am using the RedSea Reef LED 90 and then bought the mount specifically designed for it. Definitely check out my next video as I go over all of the equipment in this WaterBox setup and I even provided links to Bulk Reef Supply for each piece of hardware that's running under the hood of my system including the light fixture on top. Happy Reefing! Link: ua-cam.com/video/hB7-lBsXYos/v-deo.html
Subscribed! Keep up the updates! I’m looking forward to following your progress on your new tank. I’ve got a 16 gallon, so whatever you’re doing with your 10 gallon is also very interesting!
Thanks for subscribing! There are plenty of updates and fresh content coming soon! 16 gallons is a nice nano tank too!
👌🔥💯✌️
😎
How would you rate the build quality ? About to start the hobby again myself after 20 odd years away.
Hi John! The build quality of the WaterBox is arguably one of my favorite things about owning a WaterBox! It's very sturdy sitting on its stand and the glass itself is definitely super clear. I also appreciate the thickness of the aquarium as well. The plumbing that came with the Marine X is like putting Legos together too! Hope this helps!
Look forward to more updates. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching, there's more to come! Happy Reefing!
Keep it up Kev!
Thanks brother! #HappyReefing 😎🪸
Nice equipments there! that gyre going to blow everything away !
Appreciate the feedback! I don't intend on having the Maxspect Jump at anywhere near 100% anyway. lower flow but cover a larger range of area for the gyre.
Looking good mate 👌
Much appreciated! Looking forward to aqua-scaping and filling it up soon!
You must have the newer version of the 60.2X stand. Mine did not have any metal framing. I could fit my sump in with the door on. Also my sump looked a little different. Minor differences in all. I love my 60.2X.
Yes! This is the new 2nd generation Marine X 60.2. With the new Aspen Cabinet! Definitely a great quality build despite having difficulty on those hammerhead screws 😂
We need a update
Yes! I agree! I’ll be providing a huge update very soon!! Going to be getting on a more consistent schedule in the very near future!
