Camp Wild Fire 2024
“Hey mate, I came to your workshop this morning & it felt like I wasn’t singing with my voice but my soul” That’s one of the compliments I received from this weekend. Forever grateful for the talents & everyone who helps me grow my career in the arts. It has been a great weekend of teaching at the Camp Wildfire, my first time here & I have absolutely loved it, the setting is amazing & people have been kind too. I have had 8 x 50 minute classes throughout the weekend, different people all the time & my classes have been well attended with at least 98% of the attendees being new to singing African songs. Doing it again next weekend. Saturday was wet day, the rain was absolutely chucking it down all day, literally but that didn’t stop me from running classes & everyone was up for it.

Going through the archives and found this one video of the song Sayiwela by the legendary Lovemore Majaivana. This was recorded in Lancaster a couple of years ago. I had almost forgotten that I taught the Acappella version of it & these guys were up for it, nailed it. I should try it again soon with some of the groups I am going to be teaching. We #Qhubeka!!

Here's video one of the four songs that I taught in Dorking this weekend. This is a very popular gospel song in Zimbabwe that is sung in the Shona language. The song talks about calling on Jesus Christ when one is going through tough times, he (Jesus) is the one who will help you through it all and lessen the burden. This is another group that nailed it!

A snippet of one of the songs I taught in one of my workshops in Gwernaffield, North Wales. This is a gospel song that is sung in the Ndebele language, the Ndebele people/tribe are found in South Africa 🇿🇦 as well as Zimbabwe 🇿🇼. In English says “Lord please open the heavens door for us”.
