Clark Terry Scat Mumbling
Переглядів 8349 років тому
This short film clip features legendary jazz trumpeter Clark Terry doing his famous mumbling scat singing at a 1979 college concert in Baltimore. It also features Ansonia, Ohio HS Lab Band trumpeter Greg Campbell conducting a brief interview with Terry. Bassist/trombonist Greg Amspaugh can also be seen. Shot by Greg Gerlach using an 8mm home movie camera.
Interesting has a razzmatazz glitz American showmanship sound rather than the serious goose stepping Martial germanic sound /// to my ears
That night was sooo cold! The band stood at attention for 25 minutes before the homecoming court arrived in the car parade. When it finally came time to march off the field, our legs were nearly frozen stiff. As we did an ankle-to-knee pivot turn, the whole band groaned.
After the homecoming footage, there's video of the band playing Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" during the halftime show. I had forgotten about that.
What great fun it was to make these videos, go on trips, and perform together! Some great footage of the old High School and the Elementary School. So many memories of 8 years of walking into the dungeon-like band room to play such variety of music together. Thanks, Mr. G for all your hard work and creativity! Know I know the inspiration for all the goofy skits I had my kids do.
I was blessed with a lot of talented and dedicated students like you. I remember one time we had a Lab Band rehearsal scheduled on a day when they had to cancel school when it snowed. But every single Lab Band member showed up anyway.
That was one of my favorite songs to play trumpet on.
This was filmed with a 35mm film camera
@AnsoniaBand I loved Ansonia High School ♥
@cho0sakura: Yes, this is the Ansonia HS Band in Darke County Ohio, a few miles north of Greenville.
is that ansonia ohio near greenville?? I was an exchange student there this last year, it was amazing!!
Can anyone name all of the band members who were on the homecoming court that year?
Still can't believe I left my daughter Lisa at the gas station in Phillipsburg that day. My wife was not happy!
Park Hills HS is now called Fairborn HS. I was up there a couple of years ago. Looks like the same stadium.
I grew up in Versailles and whenever I tell people that they crowned a Miss Chick at an event called Poultry Days they think I'm kidding. Do they still do that?
