My wife kept telling me that we need to come up with something to fast track retirement, instead of doing that we thought we would try to start publishing videos on UA-cam. Mostly videos of life through our eyes, with a fair amount of travel content perhaps. What is with the name of the channel you ask, sounds like a video opportunity to me.

Some friends and I decided to try a scaled down version of the impossible mile. It was rough.

That's one handsome blurry dude.

Do you store your pump indoors or you leave it outdoors?
I store it indoors.
@@JennErmyMedia what’s the horsepower of the pump?
Day 4 was a busy day. If you have not already, go watch the previous days. The rest of the days are already scheduled to come out each Friday at 3cst.
I installed our skimmer last week. The split second that I pushed the blade through the vinyl was stressful LOL. I envisioned the pool splitting and a wall of water pushing me across the yard and through our fence... Luckily, everything went great. Awesome video, thanks
I had the exact same feeling in my head. Glad it worked for you. Thank you for watching.
Your water looks beautiful. Do you balance the ph and all?
Thank you. I don’t. I do the bare minimum. I have some chlorine tabs in the floater and I shock with liquid chlorine from time to time.
Great set up there 👌,have you seen pool hammocks great float in the water 👌what temperature is the pool at please, ours is at 16'c😢,been in twice this year too cold and raining 🏴 enjoy 👍
To be honest, I don’t know what temp the water is but I was in it a few days ago and it was rather warm. It’s been a heat wave where I am lately. Several days with temps in the 90+ F.
❤❤❤
Ok so hooking, 2, 3 ,4 a million hoses to one spigot is not gunna fill your pool faster. It will fill the same or actually a lil slower than one hose.
But, do you vacuum to waste or through filter?
I vacuum to filter. I do realize some situations necessitate going to waste instead.
@@JennErmyMedia I ask because it's my understanding that a sand filter doesn't always filter all dead algae. I do have some issues with algae si I do tend to vacuum to waste. Thanks for your response. I am in the process of installing a Hayward external skimmer in the hopes it will be more effective at removing debris.
@billedmonds1381 correct that is my understanding to that if Algae is a problem then you would vacuum to waste.
@@billedmonds1381get the filter balls. They work a billion times better than sand.
@xq8152 yeah the pump/filter that came with this pool came with the filter balls. I may try them when this pump/filter stops working.
Alan has some serious pep in his step.
Hermosura❤❤❤
Just put a 20x20 concrete pad there and put a fire pit/movie screen there in winter. Thats what im doing.
Alan has you trained well 😂❤.. good job Alan😂👏
I'd be walking that sweetie all day! Who could resist? ❤😊
Can't you set filter to waste to lower level? Just saying. Above grounds suck. You can tanl, level, etc... Over time there will be compacting, settling, soil flow. Unless you dig all the soil up and install a new compacted bottom or concrete it will go with the flow. This year I know I can drain and add a few inches sand/gravel/soil to my far side
Or just put it on concrete.
Thank you for all this information if you ever make another video, can you explain all the different settings on the six position multiport valve on the filter how old is settings work and thank you so much
Hey bud. Ive seen on other videos where they didnt counter sink the blocks and it created leaks where the pool meets the blocks. FYI bro
Yeah on my old pool, I did countersink the pavers. My thought was the composite decking had a low enough profile to it that it wouldn’t matter. Also the outer edge of the perimeter has a slight drop off as well so I just assumed the risk and went with it. You’re correct tho that in most cases you should countersink the object used under the feet. Thanks for watching.
That pool pump has impeller like a leaf vacuum shredder. I don’t know why that Pentair dynamo pump in O2 flow pump uses impellers like that uses a pool pump impeller but bestway uses an impeller seen on the leaf blower shame on bestway that way need to update your impeller and have a center discharge and make the pump self priming 10 feet to use it for inground pools. That’s what bestway should do so everyone can buy that type of pump for above grown in ground and spa and hot tub.
A lot of Intex pools need a center drain that will help our circulation into the pool less vacuuming
Intex makes better quality hoses for the maximum output of the pump. You can hard plumb the pump.
That pump sounds like windows gardening Poms at Home Depot or HarborFreight. I can use a pump like that to water my flowers.
One thing about that wall skimmer pump that pump will prime itself without turning it off and removing the lid do all bestway pump with the sand filter itself I seen a lot Intex sand filter pump it priming itself. With the Hayward skimmer. The Intex 3000 gallon power sand folder pump is way stronger than any bestway pump. It has a 34 HP motor in the motor looks like it’s from a furnace fan. Those units are known to itself.
Thank you!! I appreciate all the information you ptovided here. This is my first video I've seen and looking forward to seeing more content. If you don't have a video of how to drain a pool and sand pump, can you help with one?
Thank you for watching. I definitely plan to make a video in September that will cover what I do to drain and close the pool.
@@JennErmyMedia anyone with the soft side of pools you can add a center drain for the winter when you open up your pool and water is down low. You don’t have to wait for the water to fill up to run the pump run the pump from the center drain.
Loser recording.. 😭 your just as bad mind your own buissness
I mean if we stopped at that swinging it could be a decent core workout
I have an advice - change the sand for Polysphere filter balls (bestway). Its the best solution, much much stronger flow and its light. When you notice that the pressure on the filter is rising, just put the spheres in the washing machine and its good as new. No need for rinse or backwash.
How are you going to prevent the water from pooling around the pool after rain storms?
If you’re referring to around the bottom, I don’t really plan to. I am going to put some bordering around it and that spot will most likely be filled in with tumbled stone. So at some point it won’t pool as bad.
Great update 👍and subbed 🏴 best to be safe than sorry 🙏, we don't have your size lagoon 🏊, I have a feeling hard pipes coming soon 😉, out of curiosity how much is it to fill it, I was on a meter in the last house 😕this time I pay a set fee for the year regardless of what I use 😜cold over here pool 19'c 😕❄️enjoy and keep us updated please 👍
@ih9017 thank you for watching and the sub. Haven’t gotten the water bill yet lol. I’ll update with it. I’ll also do a video of when I shut the pool down for winter.
Do you cover your pool or take your pool down?
@anthony7557 I cover it until all of the leaves have fallen and then I usually remove the cover as it creates its own set of issues.
😮😮😮bhahahahahahahah
They don't have small dumbbells too ensure you get those gainz
😂 good point
If you use the Hayward return that comes with the skimmer it is better than the one comes with the pool because when we get with the best way does not recirculate the water way return I have on those small Intex ones that come with the small 637R filter pump and I’m seeing a couple people using Hayward returncan use a Polaris 360 or 650 cleaner by pump power cleaner one thing can use with the Hayward return they replace all returns
That’s the bestway sand filter model 58498E the bestway sand filter pump there is not that many parts for it. If the motor goes out on the pump bestway will send you a whole entire new pump. Only. If the spider gasket goes in the filter valve, they will send you a whole entire new filter valve so it’s a limited part so they don’t have that many parts. Some waves has a lot of parts the top portion not the whole seven position multi valve just the top portion any hoses use one half inch hose without the screw one things on each end so we wouldn’t hook it up or come with metal hose clamps. It’s like a Hayward Button smaller scale for 12 foot above ground. The hard side of pool has a timer also and the pump is energy efficient there is two boxes in the box. One box has the pump in there and your box has the seven position multi port valve. It’s technically like a real sand filter for you a Hayward pro sand filter system. You will have two boxes 147 position flow valve and no ones for the LX or matrix that’s a cool thing about summer waves. It’s like a real sand filter system for a regular above ground pool and they don’t share the same thing as the bestway or Intex Intex and bestway share the same thing
Great video lots of valuable information!! Just wondering what size did you cut the composite decking to go under the pool legs?
Thank u I learned a lot😊
I used patio pavers for the feet. I leveled all the pavers, used visqueen plastic for ground cover, the tarp included with the pool, and topped with a felt ground cover. Set up the frame and it was level, even though the ground underneath was lumpy as a sausage pizza! I used it for 2 summers with no issues.
Why were you able to cap off those inlets? Why did you not use them?
Watch my skimmer install video, it will help explain it more.
I have seen another video where they were having the same issue with legs kicking out. They put a huge ratchet strap around the bottom of the legs to keep from getting worse until they could drain and fix
That’s a great idea if I had a strap that long.
Use foam boards under it. Cut out for the paver to hold the post. 1.5 paver /1.5 foam board with waterproof tape.
I have the same pool and I'm currently pumping the water out to start over. I need to rebalance and reset the legs.
I would love to know how that went when you get it filled back up.
@@JennErmyMedia Today I finished pumping the pool and rebalancing the legs and slope and it looks a lot better. Took me two days to pump but it was worth it. Now I don't have to worry as much when my three kids are splashing around in it.
What Is the brand, size of your skimmer
It is a standard Hayward through wall skimmer for above ground pools. However I was recently looking on Amazon and I don’t see them on there anymore. In fact, I want to do a video on the types of skimmers that are available now because of some things that I saw.
OK thanks
Turn the gasket upside down so the split is at the top. Top will usually be dry. Good video thanks.
That’s a good idea. Luckily I think I’m ok at the moment. I’m hoping it will hold out for another couple of months and then I’ll just get a new one for next season. Thanks for watching.
yes, I want video what went wrong. I have 1 mln things that went wrong with my pool. Greatings from Europe
also switch from sand to Bestway Polysphere, its so so so much better
I have the poly fill, I may try it at some point. Check our channel for the Full Setup video, I cover the mistakes at the end. Thank you for watching.
@@JennErmyMedia I have it full too. There is so many things about it, and so many questions. We can all share
I keep mine on my toes. (My wife) 😅 I just don't have the heart to record it and share.😢
Free content !!! 😆
That pump used to cost $96 in 2019. Those pumps are throwaways that’s why the company doesn’t have that many parts
I split my gasket but I thought the same as you with the leaking between the gasket so I put a think bead of silicone on backside of the outside gasket to completely seal once screws are tightened. No leak what so ever
I had to get the bottom row screws uncomfortably tight to get it to stop seeping like that
Funny you say that. I got some of them uncomfortably tight as well because I started worrying that the plastic may be brittle.
Great job explaining and showing us your process. Your placement of the skimmer looks kinda low. You are loosing lots of water height. Kudos to you👍
I was always under the impression that it should be below that top seam. Although after the fact it does seem that I could have went about an inch higher at least. I’m not too concerned about the lost inches of water depth. My wife and I use this pool to cool off in or to just relax on a float. No kids use this pool. Thank you for watching.
I want the video! I wish you would have shown more but I know u edit for time. Thanks! I want to convert mine and you made me feel more confident 😅❤👍🏽what is your chemical routine? Beautiful water!
I’ll do a full video on the entire build. Look for it on the channel this coming week. Luckily our chem routine has been fairly easy the last four years. We use liquid chlorine, not powdered shock, and we use the chlorine tablet floater as well. All of the levels stay in a pretty good range. I do vacuum regularly as well, and backwash and rinse the filter after each time. Thank you for watching.
