      Wow! That’s amazing! $20k is more on the high end. There are definitely more affordable Montessori schools around.

      In our area , all preschools are above 20k, even if they are regular and not montessori. There are a couple montessori schools that we are considering. One only has about 1 or 1.5 hrs of lesson time (from the shelf activities), but a lot of time hiking , playing and eating outdoors surrounded by nature. The second school we are considering is actually a training site for montessori teachers and this one has about 3 or 3.5 hrs of lesson time (some times it could include some outdoor lessons) and about 1 total hour of outdoor play time. Please! Any suggestions to help us choose from these two wonderful programs? What other factors should we consider? Thank you!

    Can you explain why in the first video you thought it was good that she held the child and in another you thought it was a bad idea? I've done both with my 2-year-old and I questioned myself in both situations 😕

    • @freshmontessori
      @freshmontessori 9 місяців тому

      I would say that it’s okay to hold children in situations where their actions can hurt themselves or others. However, if a child is trying to go somewhere, or do something that you know they shouldn’t, instead of holding, I would suggest blocking (unless REALLY necessary) and telling them to turn around. That’s because blocking allows them to make the decision on their own to stop, while respecting their boundaries. Now, if it’s necessary that you hold them, do so without pulling on their bodies (i.e., carrying) because if they pull back, they might end up hurting themselves. Hope this helps :)

      @@seaweed2433 and yet there's never been such a flood of tantrums and meltdowns than in this day and age, when parents think they know better than God on how to discipline children. Kids brains are designed to learn from the rod and everyone who does it PROPERLY in love and sincerity sees good fruit in their kids. And parents who prioritize their kids emotions more than anything end up suffering through these tantrums. Sorry but I'd go with what I know to have been proven to work for thousands of years.

    • @seaweed2433
      @seaweed2433 9 місяців тому

      @@psalmethyst why don't you look up the research and long term studies on this. Did you know that US adults who were physically disciplined as children have higher rates of depression and higher incarceration rated. And these studies have been replicated in many western countries with the same results. Where is your evidence that children are hard wired for it? What a bizarre thing to claim when there is zero evidence to support it. Sounds more like an excuse from a sadist parent hiding behind religion. Entitled permissive parenting is not the same as correctly discipling children without physical violence. Yes parents have become too busy and entitled to parent effectively, but that's not what you are talking about. You are talking in absolutes with zero knowledge or research So not just unempathetic and cruel, but also to lazy to do any research into it. Too lazy to care about the 100s studies that show the opposite. Typical yt lurking Christian. Selfish, laze and cruel

    I always saw reading as something parents should teach from young, not something that schools should be relied on for no matter how good the school. Honestly, it seems best that you try and start to teach your kids to read at an age before you send them to school even it they don't catch on right away.

    Having being trained as aMontessori teacher,attended traditional nursery school, taught in Montessori and traditional Nursery, KG and Primary schools, my view is that a combined system done by teachers who love children and teaching you can get positive results from both systems. The guiding adults attitude is very important for the final outcome.

    Question of the day: How do you raise independent children? What do you do to guide your child through life?
