I am travelling the world alone | TRAILER
Welcome to my UA-cam Channel! My name is Prudence, and I'm a girl travelling the world alone. Walter Mitty style.
A fun fact about me is that I can tap dance, an irrelevant fact about me is that I'm not very good at it. I love history, literature, art. Currently reading War & Peace (will i finish it? who knows). And I'm from Sydney!
I've been studying Law for the last 5-7 years, but suddenly my degree ended, my job ended, my relationship ended, and I was very sad. Then I realised being alone meant I was free to go on an actual adventure. Like the kind I've always imagined, but never thought I was capable of. Turns out, I am! And it changed my life.
I love seeing the world, either travelling it myself or watching other people travel, so I thought I would share my stories with all those fellow lovers of the world.
If you're someone who loves to learn, who craves adventure, is tempted by danger, and values human connection - then me too. So let's travel together, you and me xoxo

One piece of advice, you were in the wrong pair of shoes. You should be wearing sneakers or as you would probably call them “trainers“ or snow boots not slick sold shoes you want something with traction and snow and on ice unless you wanna fall and bust your ass lol

Making me tear up watching you experience this. Im from Denver in the US so a few feet of snow was 4 months of the year for me. You dont appreciate it until you see someone who has never known it. I think all people should have a chance to just be kids and play in the snow. Snow angels. Licking icecicles. Snow balls. Yes it holds its shape. Its actually very beautoful 6 sided crystals that look like stars. All unique. They interlock and stick to each other so it can hold shape a little. And still fall apart from weight or melting. It gave Disney a huge nightmare doing Frozen as they had to figure out the math behind how snow clumps and crushes. Theu spent time at ski resorts playing amd studying it. Then hundreds of hours coding it so a computer could replicate it. Walking isnt hard, just different. Less forward and more up down. On dry the friction will stop you slidikg forward. On snow amd ice no so you have to be more planted in your steps and not make suddent changes. If you have good shoe tread snow isnusually easier to walk on. Eventually it gets compacted down to ice though. You just go slow and steady. Man I want to take you up my mountains now. Though the dang Alps are hard to beat for picturesque. Love the wonder in your face as you ride in on the train.

You can see snow a million times and the millionth time it is still magical. Its ethereal and feels like time has kind of stopped. It deadens sound around you. You hear the rustling of trees close by. Crunching underfoot. Also after a nice powdery snow when the clouds have cleared and the full moon is out, snow turns into a blanket of silvery diamonds. Its dazzling. Snow is so peaceful. And I love seeing pekple experience it for the first time. That urge to catch a flake on the tongue

"Thank god it's not raining." Weeell.... by technicality, it is. It's just that before that rain reaches the ground, it's frozen into snow crystals. 1ml rain in winter is 1cm of snow if I don't misremember the conversion. You got to experience the "hug snow"! That's what we call it in Swedish anyway. I guess you could also call it "squeeze/squish snow" or "shape snow". Compared to "powder/new snow", which is the snow I think you mean when you say it's crunchy, it has more moisture and thus is heavier. Or stickier as you say. The moisture is what allow you to shape it, or "hug it into shape", more easily. It'll usually fall close to the 0C line, +1 or -1 degree Celsius. And yes, once packed tightly, it gets hard and the extra moisture makes it prone to melting partially and then freezing with a layer of thin ice on top. That makes it extra slippery. Try to walk on the less trodden snow, especially if you're in heels. Less chance of slipping. Glad you enjoyed the weather!

As someone who lives in a place where we get snow that turns to slush almost immediately but where it almost never stays it's easy to forget that for some people it's absolutely magical.

you're so sweet :) unlike many people nowadays, I also like fresh show. I always play with it when I walk down the street. sadly though it doesn't snow much these last few years where I live. When I was a child we use to get continuous snow cover from November to March, now we only get snow a few scattered days in a year and it completely melts the next day.

Since you used both words, let me be paragraph guy: Glühwein is the "traditional" mulled wine: wine (usually red, can be rose or white) with spices, heated up. You can usually get it with a "Schuss" - literally a shot of some harder alcohol (Amaretto is great). But on some christmas markets, you *can* get Mead, so wine made from Honey. Either just as pure mead, as hot mead, or even "Glühmet", so mulled mead. Writing that I noticed that I didn't have any this year either (neither mulled wine nor mead) and I may have to change that soon :D.

It was interesting, seeing the first time reaction to snow, especially since for me, it's an every winter occurrence, so you start to just take it for granted. You start focusing on the prosaic aspects, such as how dirty it gets in the city after a day or two. As you found out, heels and snow are a bad combination. LOL One suggestion, the music was great, but very loud, I had some troubles hearing you over it ...

The lack of wind means you can feel quite comfortable down to surprisingly low temperatures. As long as you’re properly dressed, you can feel perfectly warm. When the wind is blowing, it’s a lot harder to keep warm. -15° in still weather feels nicer than -2° in the wind.
