I had something similar happen to me, I finished ny shiny hunt for celebi, then they did a distribution event right after, also the pokemon go one came out.

the one you got is still _far_ more valuable, for reasons already stated by several other comments below

This is just like shiny Celebi and shiny Rayquaza. I hunted shiny Celebi in VC Crystal, and literally a year later is was given for free via a code in SwSH... And then, you know about the shiny Rayquaza that was given to everybody in SV awhile ago... Well, I legitimately hunted that thing in SwSh. Same nature , too! It sucks, dude. I know the feels.

tbf john only did it w the ace method and even that w 4 systems he didnt work "so hard" when you compare it to ppl that actually hunted it the right way with 4 systems and 8k resets he basically just put the time for 2k resets with one system into it so he better relax

Well, it's the same scenario as the Japanese event shiny Jirachi vs. shiny Wishmaker Jirachi. Would include the one from Go, but even the Wishmaker looks like a handout compared to that 😂

To make john happy, i wont be getting 1 along side enamorus, dont have any copy of bdsp so thats that. Kinda hurt since i am only missing darkrai for pla dex but it needs bdsp

Real talk, we need a more accessible way to get shiny Manaphy that doesn’t involve completing Home Dex or using ACE. Just so it’s more accessible to the public for hunting

The gen 4 shiny Manaphy still has value, in my opinion. The “free” one always has the HOME OT, is in a Cherish Ball, and has the BDSP origin mark. But the gen 4 one has your OT, is in a Poké Ball, has no origin mark, and can be given any ribbon from D/P all the way to US/UM. The Pokémon Home Manaphy will never have those things.

This does not detract from the huge achievement that is getting the Ranger Egg Shiny Manaphy. Yeah, everyone can have a Shiny Manaphy now, but not a lot of folks can say they have _two_ Shiny Manaphy! That's still a good feeling. Source: I have two Shiny Manaphy. :)
