Catching fish in the heart of the Lake District!
Chasing monster perch on Ullswater
Today we are fishing Ullswater in the lake district chasing after a specimen perch! With good weather and high hopes to begin we set off on our way. However the weather soon turned but did the mood? Will we catch or will the session be another blank in the books!

I started fishing again recently and I live about 5 miles from Ullswater. I've been up into Scotland 3 times this season, feeder fishing for bream, but I've had some bait left two of those times, and popped down to Ullswater to just use up my bait. Well the first time I was feeder fishing close to Glenridding, and caught one perch on the feeder with maggots, honestly it was about 1lb, and I had a couple more bites and that was it. But we went today, I was on the north shore about half way down the lake, and today I caught 5 perch, all about 10-12oz, just using a waggler. Always seems to take a while to get a swim going, but once it starts, it starts.... Cool video :)
What licence/permissions did you require for this please? I read you can fish ullswater free.
Hi mate, so to fish you just need a rod license really. That and paying for your parking at the launch site which was about £5 when I was last there. If your taking a boat make sure to be mindful of the steamers and respect their space 👍🏼 Tight lines 🎣
My line often twists when spinning like that, what do you do if anything, to prevent that ?
Hi mate, try tying a swivel quick clip onto your line and then clipping your spinner onto that instead 👍🏼

Thanks mate! You don’t need to pay to launch however there is a parking fee which is £5 for a full day, free after 6pm!

Fishing on that part of the river at this time of year very bad angling considering that but had a fish kill recently 👎👎👎👎 locals ruin these waters round here more than the tourists
Hi mate, I wasn’t the only fisherman out there. Target species was perch which is perfectly fine. Also the water temp was sub 20 which makes catching Jack pike acceptable, especially as he was handled and unhooked in the water 👍🏼
@@Fellsidefisherman target species being perch with lures that size???? Yeah right and that water is defo above 20 degrees guarantee it
Oh and I know people fish down there for pike at this time of year and I do tell them. I’ve also seen quite a few people fishing it out of season
Water temp was checked prior to fishing, also used that footage as it looks more visually impressing that that of a small perch rig 👍🏼
