Virtuosity Musical Instruments
United States
Приєднався 12 кві 2017
Virtuosity was founded in fall of 2015 after a need was recognized for a communal meeting place for musicians to exchange ideas, network and learn about instruments new and old. We are continually learning, expanding inventory and becoming an indispensable source for products and information. Whether its a custom horn or a rare collectible, we've helped customers from several continents track down their dream instrument. At Virtuosity, we don't think of ourselves as just another store.
Owner Steve Johnson is deeply rooted in the greater Boston music community. A New England native and freelancer, Steve has always been fascinated with musical instruments. "The thought that we can create beautiful sounds from raw materials such as wood or metal is incredible. The first time I made a sound on my trumpet it blew me away."
Each musician is as important as the next, no matter where they are on their musical journey.

I dnt like this low notes. It isnt notes. Ir is noise.
selmer bundy 2 the most refined sax ever made
And now, - tell about your orange blazer
Mi amigo, you are a true classy player, thanks for your demonstration and you convinced me to get the Brahma, great sound..don`t know if go metal or HR. I play HR pieces and leaning towards that.
A wonderful demonstration Edmar !Bravo!❤😊
I had to play a Petal Bb for one of my solo pieces and I always ended up pulling my top lip out of the mouthpiece. In hindsight, it made no sense and now I am trying to unlearn it. Thanks for the help!
Great info. Thank you
Brillantisim ❤ Love and Jazz.
I have a 59 Old's Special that I picked up off of Ebay about 20 years ago. It needs refinishing but I have never owned another trumpet with smoother valve action.
uso sempre m30
Many Thanks Maestro for the wonderful exercise 🫡
How much
After how your Mk Vl sounds, the Rampone is the best. Best regards
That mouthpiece seems very 'brash' on this tenor . The sounde seems to be fine at low levels but loses something when pushed .
Thank you so much for this great video showing us this amazing horn and your amazing God given talent. May He continue to bless you. Bill. Uk 🎷🎷🎷
I love the sound of these Bach horns but I prefer my feel of my Xeno.
Mr. Markey is extremely thoughtful. Great video.
He hit it on the spot, and it was all original improv!!! Keep the greatness of sax alive, Virtuosity! Continue to what you do on the sax!! Overall, amazing demonstration Edmar!!!
Nice sax. I have a King tenor super twe ty. It is similar
Wonderful vid. Thank you. I am a fan.
I have a 54 LA Olds Recording...I think its an upgrade from my 90's Bach Strad.... I absolutely love it!
Really should talk to the camera. The side shots are annoying.
BTW, If you want to buy a Mark VI... well good luck in finding one that was really taken good care of... or find one that never been played!
Yamaha custom Z is sooo fluent. Yamaha tenors are great, i have an old Silver YTS 62 1990's, repadded and all my Mark VI friends want it ! Mind you Yamaha 82ZUL Altos are also very good, listen to Phil Woods. But Tenor and Alto saxophones are two different beasts... And don't get me started on sopranos!
Вы так классно рассказываете,что хочется послушать разницу в звучании))
Thoroughly impressive comprehensive comparison across the range to help me select the next move and a visit to Boston.
professor Edmar Colón what a super job he did!
Brahma 8* really suits your style
Great review, great playing, makes it easy to assess each piece, many thanks 🙂
your question what's the best tenor saxophone ? Conn 10M easy :-)
Your mark 6 sounded the best to my ears because it had a rounder sound with the high edges smoothed off and the Yamaha custom Z was a close second because the sounds had that classic vibrato sexiness you can almost feel in your chest.
Hello, do you sell the Bach 182 ? Thanks
just sounds the same as my s80 ll, in fact my s80 ll sounds better
Can I borrow $15,000….🦥💨
Very interesting vid on low range can you confirm the name of the excessive book with one plug
Wonderful collection! BTW a Stork 2FLS mouthpiece (Bach taper) works fine with a pre-56 Olds cornet.
Thank you Edmar and Virtuosity Musical Instruments for making such a good Theo Wanne mouthpieces presentation. I have one Lakshmi #8 Very happy playing it on my JLWoodwinds tenor
Well, a good60k VI is almost impossble to equal, let alone better. But to me, the 36 and interestingly, the Rampone & Cazzane are the most interesting sounding new horns. They're all really good. No doubt about the value of the Yamaha. Or, for that matter, a Yanagisawa. But that said, a later VI (>140k) is in the same price range, and I've played some stunning 200k horns. You said it, Jon, early on. It's what one likes. You sound great on all of them-no one in their right mind would say, "Oh-that's not working." You could cut an album with any of em and I'd buy it!
You can invert that and instead "pull your top lip out of the mouthpiece" [when playing pedal notes]. Using my top lip worked great for low notes on the trombone, but on tuba, my lower lip is much more consistent in the E0 register, In fact I can't hit E0 using my top lip but can consistently play E0 and even D0 with my bottom lip. It took me years to adjust, but now I'm an upstream player on low brass and even sound better on high brass, by simply using more lower lip. In my case, my upper lip is more fleshy and flabby than my lower lip.
Are you playing the Couesnon with a French Taper mouthpiece? Usually intonation complaints of the "Queenie" are caused by this.. wrong taper. If you want to play 'small morse (bach) or large morse (standard) taper on a Couesnon, you need a Melk/GR leadpipe (receiver). It accepts both generally. Personally, I think Couesnon plays best with a french taper in the original french receiver pipe.
Played a VI for 60 years. Aside from the sound, it fit my hand like no other. As if I was joined to it at birth. The sound of it and every VI I've ever heard has a softness/sweetness to it like no other. This video didn't change that fact. It sounds like no other.
P-Mauriat is a joke like Cannonball is
