Why would you cut the roots off and then grow them back in water? Couldn't you just divide them up and plant with the roots

Great video! I always thought taro needed soggy wet soil to be happy. Should point out how to distinguish taro which is edible from elephant ear which is toxic and very similar in appearance to taro. With taro the petiole attaches to the underside of the heart shaped leaf, with elephant ear the petiole attaches to the "V"part of the heart shaped leaf. Wouldn't want anyone to confuse the two plants.

Please be clear, how long should i keep the seeds in wet cloth closed in a box? What type of soil is to be used? I tried last time near by home we have red soil, leaves started falling off and now totally dried up branches. Watering and sunlight is sufficient never used any fertilizers.
