Just a middle-aged dood with one more time-consuming hobby.
Alafia River State Park, Hidden Rivers MB Trail
Taking a ride down one of the "Green" trails, but man, it was a fun challenge for this dude, having been out of the trail riding scene for some time. Cannondale Trail 7.1 did an amazing job keeping me above ground!

Harbor Freight 5 Ton Electric Log Splitter
Переглядів 11 тис.Рік тому
Here's my first impression and short review of this new log splitter that I purchased for my cottage in Michigan. Enjoy!! By the way, all that bark is being thrown into a HUGE yard of fern, so it will decompose quite quickly....nevah you minda!!

A LONG video, but I think an important video regarding a health scare from last year. If you're squeamish about certain bodily functions, this might be one to take a pass, but I hope you'll watch it anyway and gain some inspiration from my experience.

Singing a love song to my granddaughter!!
I'd make a stand for it so you wouldn't have to keep standing up and sitting down. If it were at waist height it would be much easier. And I'd also build some kind of table behind the splitting wedge to keep the pieces from falling and possibly hitting your legs or feet!
That'd be better than swinging an ax
...
I purchased my 5 ton in early summer. I live in SoCal and the most prevalent wood here is eucalyptus. Funny thing with this wood is how hard and twisty it is. If you try with all your might and use an ax, the ax will just bounce right off the log. Very hard to split. This 5 ton from Harbor Freight has NO problem splitting this twisted wood. I have split rounds that were up to 15" diameter. Maybe not the first try or down the middle, but starting on the edges and taking slices off. Sometimes I have to work the round and flip it or just move it a quarter turn. I have it on a rollaway bench that I love. It hasn't failed me yet with over 2 cords split so far. As far as adjusting the ram, all I did was to cut a piece of wood and place it behind the ram so it won't cycle all the way back. Yes, the two hands to control is somewhat awkward at times when you want to hold your wood from raising up. I would also like to see some small spikes on the ram head to keep it from slipping off the wood sometimes.
A suggestion, if you hone the leading edge of the splitting wedge finer than factory, it helps split stringy wood with a cleaner finish & less stress on the machine. Motor runs cooler, so lasts longer before failing.
@@trwilkinson4623 Thank you
I want buy it again The Pusher is broke
Thank you for the video demo Sir. I got the manual 10 ton splitter and am happy with it…. Nothing like having a great amount of nature from God to help us heat for the winter…
I bought this same splitter about a week ago. I’ve split about two cords so far without any problems. My rounds are mostly 7”-10” but I’ve had several 11”-15” that have split just as easily as the smaller ones. My only complaint is the same as yours, not having a free hand. I bought a foot control for it at HF and use a small wood clamp to keep the on button pushed in. The motor starts when I pull the hydraulic lever and shuts of when the lever is released. I highly recommend this splitter to anyone looking to buy one.
Easy peasy. Measure the distance from the on button to the back of the box it is mounted on and go back to HF and buy the appropriate adjustable clamp. Clamp it down....now when you plug it in, it is on, and you have one handed operation. Have had mine for 6 years and 10 minutes into it, I fixed it this way....been using ever since and no problems! HA HA
Android app Sticky Notes Pro? NOPE. This video is not a good result.
Dan - nice work! You're talented to even know how to start this project! Found your channel from a comment you left on OWtM. We live near them in rural PA. We'd love if you'd give our channel a look if you get a chance. Thanks in advance!
Cool!
Nicely done. Looks gorgeous up there right now.
It sure is!!
Oh my goodness. What a cutie patootie! Thank you for this.
Wow, that was a job!
Yeah, and it ain't done yet....THAT was the fun part....now I have to clean up my back yard!!!
P.S. for a second I thought it might be Mrs. Lovett or Joanna...hehe
There's a handful of people who might think I'd go that route....if I went "Mrs. Lovett", I'd fully expect my kayak to sink!!!
Awww....sweet!! That is my absolute favorite picture of Kev and the baby.
Beautiful job on the boat. I sense you know what it means to put heart and soul into something. So much of my time and energy has been given to make my beloved piano playable, I hope you can help me reach my goal to play it again.
Loved this Dan! I missed including this in our overall montage, but still loved your entry. Thanks so much for joining the challenge and it's cool to see some creative problem solving!
Thanks, Levi!! Love your channel!!
Awesome my 94 year old grandpa made something similar! Keep making!!!
Awesome!
Very clever!!
I remember that piece of furniture! Almost sad to see it destroyed.
Re purposed, my dear...gonna make another desk for my office, for one thing!
No doubt that baby girl is our family!
Dan, since I have not seen you at COR lately, seeing you here with these lovely shots of baby Cora and the drone "iced-in" photos, made for a happy afternoon video!
I never get tired of seeing the Smokies. Where was that structure in the Cove where you were sitting? Didn’t recognize it. Looked so peaceful.
That's the gazebo just before you drive onto the loop road. Yeah, was a beauty day, for sure
Sent here via Haze Outdoors UK and Doug Outside (Canada). Nice home in the woods ! Congratulations on the new grandchild ! Glad both of your X wives are happy. You have had one interesting life. It could be made into a movie. Children make life a little better ! Grandchildren even better. Yes, we have to be non judgmental about anyone's marriage. Good advise ! Cheers !
Thanks for the thumbs-up and the nice words...I appreciate that!!
Wow, automatic splitter!?! Cool! Looks chilly up there.
Hydraulic splitter....gas powered. Was fun to play with after dancing with my chainsaw!!
That was my birthday present this year. Most women want diamonds. I want big power tools.
Awesome, and the best part was hearing her laugh! Reminds me of your mom. <3
Yup, those two were sisters from different mums!!!
Thank you for being so honest. ♥️
Sweetness!
Those salmon are pretty determined little ones! So pretty there.
Awesome stuff Dan!!
Thanks, Ray!! See ya in a couple weeks!!
I don’t know how in the world those ship captains dock those things.
That was indeed “Cool!” Nice footage. So how long did it take to get across? Hey, you could totally have a job on that thing. Looked like fun.
It takes about 4 hours to make the crossing, which is within less than a mile of being exactly 60 miles in length. In other words, what they would call "Full Steam Ahead" is about 15 mph. Big ships just don't go very fast. I still would highly recommend this trip. I have done it many times, and I can attest that the lake michigan carferry slogan "Big Ship, More Fun" lives up to it's word. it really is a fun adventure.
4 hours and change, adding in backing into the slip and off-loading the car. VERY pleasant, and just SOOOO nostalgic for me!!
I know this is something you love dearly and I can see why. It was cool!
It looked really fun!
Nice video. Good production quality. Like the music. I have sailed on the Badger many times as a youth and adult. I love it. My family had a cottage on Crystal Lake near Frankfort...and I would go into town with my Mother...just to watch the carferries while she shopped. We would take the Ann Arbor Carferries right into Frankfort or because the the Badger and Spartan were new...we would go in and out of Ludington. (They sailed into Milwaukee at that time, along with Manitowoc and Keewanee.) Glad you enjoyed your journey.
Likely that you and I ran into each other on the Frankfort beach. I own a cottage just off Crystal Lake. It was a nostalgic journey, for sure!!!
Great footage!
Gettin' all fancy! Nice editing! Whoa I didn't know there was a folding machine. Cool...hehehe Can we put our laundry in there...hehehe
Wow, what they did with those boosters are blowing my mind. I didn’t get to see it so thanks for filming that. Wow! Nice video work.
Awesome footage! Keep up the hard work!!
P.s. the pull away shot with the docks was cool!
This was fun to do, indeed!!
This was so sweet!! Happy Birthday Loren!
Awesome video Dan! I love the timelapse. I am sending peeps over to you to subscribe.
Thanks, bro!
Wow, sweet rig. I looked at the Canons but the weight was a little daunting. Great camera! Have fun. Loved the Crystal Lake footage. The boats looked like little toys.
It is the SWEETEST of rigs!! Got a lens or two in the hopper for some sick b-roll....thanks for watching!!
Beautiful tree. Love seeing the familiar ornaments. Great job with the Irlandaise. I will have to break that out.
Could NOT believe that I found a piano/flute duo on this particular movement...and they're damn GOOD!!! Made the project so fun!!!
Love the drone footage.
Tootsie!!! Hehehe....I hate when my bass acts up like that.
I was going to say German too. Better sound.
Love the slo mo! Cool color Keurig!
Dare I think this is the first installment of Vlogmas??? Vlogcember? That's cool too!
