I bought one when I turned 21. It was at an Oshman''s sporting goods store. It was a .45 Colt with the 71/2 barrel. I was well out of the price range of a 21 year old who barely had a full time job. I'd go to the store once in a while just to look and wonder what it'd be like to own one. Then one day the manager said If I couldn't afford to pay cash I could charge it. Back then you actually had to have credit before you could get a card. Not like today where you'd still be approved knowing you had bad credit. So the manager put the Colt on layaway. I put down $50 which was big money back then. As far as I can recall the price of gold and a Colt SAA matched most of the time. As near as I can remember that Colt sold for $600. It was a 90 day layaway and I told him there was no way I could afford to pay off even at $36/week for three months. I eventually paid of the Colt from layaway in just under six months. When I got it home I could hardly stop lookin at it. I had a little BS bank job and promptly took the revolver box and all and locked it up on my safety deposit box and there is sat nearly forgotten for 10 years. When I quit the bank I emptied the safety deposit box and took it home. I had it another 20 years before my home was broken into and my guns stolen. Back then gun safes weren't as popular or as sturdy as they are now. I cannot see myself spending nearly $2k on a revolver so I bought a Uberti Cattleman 4.75" barrel, blued with case hardened frame. Uberti makes their SAA and lever rifles are exact copies Colt and Winchester since those patents have expired long ago. I wish I had my Colt SAA but I am very happy with my Uberti.

Since you done pulled back the hammer you might as well fire it. It's too bad they don't use the original finish, charcoal blue. 💙 It's the most beautiful finish. I made a mistake and brought my daughter to a shop which stocks them. She was going to get new Colts. Fire it, they hardly kick at all. Use Cowboy loads if you can find them.

My new python purchased July 1, 2024 is a blued iteration and quite handsome. But the trigger pull is atrocious. Single action averaging 6.7 lbs and DA just over 11 lbs. Shes just a pretty face at this point. I'm finding that there are precious few smiths available to do trigger work on them. And the ones that do are out over a year. Congrats on your fully functioning Python.

I wish there was a CZ adapter available but it's not a deal breaker for me. I have many CZ 9mm pistols with interchangeable magazines. Sorry but Glock and S&W are banned in my house for my own personal reasons. I choose not to do business with either manufacturer. I use to think the higher capacity magazines were better. I've lately been buying the "California Compliant" magazines instead for all my firearms. I love the lighter weight and smaller footprint of the lower capacity magazines when at the range. Sometimes less is more. I have a thermo scope I purchased as an "impulse" buy and it doesn't really make sense to put on any of my other firearms. In hindsight it was a costly mistake. I think it would be perfect mounted on the Homesteader for night varmints and ease my "buyers remorse".Thank you for the review.

I wouldn’t have turned the cylinder forget considering shooting that beauty. That’s a collector’s piece. There are other guns for shooting. That one belongs in the safe or a safe glass display case lying on velvet.

Great video. I've been using this press for a few months now and after a short learning curve, am loading quality ammo in a reasonable amount of time. One point that I will pass on: it is not necessary to torque the locking rings down that tight. Lee supplies a plastic wrench for a good reason, just past finger tight is enough. I have never had a die lose adjustment and do not apply anywhere near that much torque. Enjoy your new press.

Did you use the screws that came with the TTI or the screws from the optic?

What is trigger pull when fired double action? Nice addition, like being 3 inch barrel. Curious on how well the grip handles a full load .357 rounds. I have a S&W Bodyguard 38 and it would bite my hand after a few rounds. Installed a Hogue ‘Tamer’ grip and night n day with how it feels shooting. Plus at a very affordable price. Best to everyone!

If you don't want to shoot it, don't shoot it! I'm a collector and a stroke survivor, so I don't shoot everything.

It’s designed to be a combat pistol- think cold weather gloves and adrenaline- trigger creep in a combat situation will be the last of your worries.

This on a ddm4v5? Did your friend have to make any adjustments to buffer? I got a ddm4v9 i may put one in..

Just for record there are 2 dies for 45-70 levereverloution/and government for FTX the first is required I reload over 60 calibers but 45 70 is a favorite
