    Thanks for this interview! I've loved the two books I've read by Hunt -- "The Invention..." and "The Dark Dark." Her characters, especially in the novel, are complex, vivid, colorful, and full of life. In this lively conversation, Hunt talks about writing as putting together elements, to see what electricity is generated, and indeed, her writing has a playful and fearless experimental quality -- she's not afraid to take a few steps out of the ordinary world into the unknown, or to bring ideas from the supernatural, e.g., haunting, into real-world use. There are sparks in all that I've read of hers. Vick is a pleasant interviewer -- respectful and enthusiastic about Hunt's work, not out to prove anything herself.

    Thank you for hosting Sue William Silverman. Finding her books in a walk through Vermont College of Fine Arts bookstore got me started writing memoir. A Creative Nonfiction class, then numerous writing cohorts later, I find writing is key to living well through the crap-patterns that label us “messed up”.

    As someone who is going through the querying process for the first time, hearing that what agents want to see in a query letter is... every agent is different... not very helpful.

    • @opheliawild
      @opheliawild Рік тому

      It is helpful. It means do your research on which agents you query so you can match your work with the right agent. You will also want to refine your query specifically for that agent if needed, just like you'd do with a resume for each job. It's about doing your homework to find a great fit for both you and the agent.
