sorry but without having it in hands it's just impossible to give any estimates as there are many factors that would determine it's value, you'd need to either list it at a set price that you think would be reasonable or post it on an auction and let buyers decide how much they would be willing to pay for it

well not exactly looking for an advice or a teacher as my videos are mostly to show how the instruments sound like, not how I play them. I spend most of time working on restorations so taking lessons without having time to practice would be pretty much pointless

​​You are right ,what I can say is ,because you are a mandolin maker ,but at the same time you can play good the mandolin that is a plus ,because you can understand more about the sound ,what many mandolin makers and violin makers are not able to do .If that is a your mandolin to me appear to be a really good mandolin .Congratulations

@@Mark-ce9zx Mandolin itself was made by Giuseppe Casini in Naples, I had to do a few little things like replacing a fretboard to return it to playable state

can you elaborate on this please? as an author of that piece I think I get to choose what technique I use

You are free ,but what is coming out from the mandolin is the answer .Still good to hear but not so correct techically .

@@PoulHansenDK it's a tulip wood strip, it was used often on bowl back mandolins as well

@PoulHansenDK I alway try to avoid any sanding areas with stamps on top, here it was still well visible so no tricks needed

@@RobDiesALot glad to hear that it inspired you to try mandolin, it does make it sound very different but I found nylgut strings to be a bit inconsistent in tuning on E string

This one was fitted with Fisoma F3010

@@lucassobieranski9089 The melody is moving! Unlike other mandolins as usual, this mandolin's pattern of pick guard is asymmetrical . I'm curious about it's history and design.

@evelittlefish Music recorded is an Overture from partita 5 in G minor by Filippo Sauli and published in book Classical Mandolin Solos by Carlo Aonzo. As for mandolin, in early 20th century there were many mandolin makers in Naples and no one really kept any track of it so there's very little information on this even for the most famous ones

@@DavidMorgan-e1s Germany produced a lot of unbranded guitars so that music shops can slap their brand on it. I had a mandolin labelled Barnes and Mullins but it was actually an Italian import. This type of business was very common back then and still is today, just like stuff on Amazon or eBay where the same item has a different logo on it.

​@lucassobieranski9089 is it still comparatively brighter than a flat/carved mandolin though? I'm thinking of doing this for my mandolin but I don't want to have a flat back sound

@@Daniel_Doce275 it's softer but still much different compared to a flat back. I posted few video of mandolin with nylgut strings so check out other ones as well to have more idea of sound you'll get

You mean origin wise? Likely to be another design of Ewald Glaesel produced in Markneukirchen in early 20th c.

@@JamesLamica well sadly not very valuable , Germany produced a lot of unbranded mandolins and although some sound quite good they are not worth much even if they are in good playing order

I don't think you can buy a new bridge for mandriola, I always make new ones

@@lucassobieranski9089 E l' adornamento di madreperla che fa la diferenza di prezzo ? Ho visto mandolini di Galace dal 1911 o dal 1923 che costano l' uno 4000 euro e l' altro 700 Euro..

Ebbene sì, i mandolini più elaborati sono solitamente più costosi soprattutto se sono famosi come Calace Vinaccia ecc. Alcuni strumenti però sono semplicemente troppo cari@@kelor

You need to tie loops at end, then you can hook strings at tailpiece

Look for Optima or Pyramid Mandriola sets on Amazon or Thomann otherwise you can make your own set by combining mandolin set plus 4 single strings for lower octave

Hi Roger, which mandolin was it? These strings are better for tailpiece with pins rather than hooks. You can get this set directly from Aquila but you can also check eBay (Red series M1)
