Daphnia are filter feeders. They need nothing more than a container with fresh water and some yeast.

No sand or substrate they can eat. It will kill them. Best to be kept in species only aquarium.

No, this is not salt water, because the salt content in which Sea Monkeys live is really high and mostly only the algae where they feed

At 9 gallons, this Fluval Flex tank is on the small side for most fish but is perfect for a colony of blue dream shrimp and mystery snails! I'm planning on adding more shrimp soon but I can't decide if i should mix up the colors or stick with the all blue look... 🤔

daphnia are microfauna that can be foudn thriving in puddles that only last for a few weeks. This isnt cruelty, infact this is almost paradise save for the size which prevents much growth in the population. You should really look up the animals you advocate for before saying things like its trapping them and killing them, because its not

They aren’t shrimp, it’s daphnia. A lot of aquarists use them as fish food, this likely isn’t a long term set up either so they will be fine 🙃

Plants consume oxygen at dark time... You want to feed daphnia, ok, but how to feed it with plants? I have same plants, and they became polluted by yeest or green culture leftovers. I don't feed more comparing to your amounts

more is obviously better, but as a kid i kept one in a one gallon pickle jar. It was far from the best settup but the lil guy lived a long time Probably a testament to their hardiness more so than anything else, but if you got good water plants in there 2.5 gal is probably enough volume for a healthy fish. But again, more is always better, primarily because more volume means the conditions in the water are more stable (less fluctuation in ammonia, o2, temperature, etc.), and fish are almost always happier and healthier with more volume
