    This product is a well thought out prepping item, it really makes people sit down and go over different situations and plan accordingly I fear many preppers just build a bug out bag and that ends their thought process on different emergency situations. If you're wondering what's going on in this video, let me explain. These devices are Meshtastic nodes. They are essentially like walkie talkies, but for texting only... so walkie texties! They use radio waves to send data to other similar devices without using any cell service or wifi. In this video, I testing the use of these devices with an app called ATAK, which is used for tactical awareness. In this case, I'm simply testing out the integration between ATAK and the Meshtastic devices to show how it works. The purpose of this test as it relates to our company is to demonstrate one example of how comms can be used, and we hope it inspires you to think about trying things like this out!

    Why put the usb port and breather on the top vs the bottom? I would think it would be more water resistant on the bottom so I'm really curious the reasoning. I just got my stuff today from watching your videos so before I drill it I just wanted to clarify it.

    • @madgearcompany
      @madgearcompany 14 днів тому

      @@lindelof1221 i mounted the one in the video in a place where accessing the top of the box was easier than the bottom. The box has had no water ingress, as the USB C port has a waterproof cap, and the breather hasn’t let any water in either. One of these repeaters has been outside for about 3 months in plenty of rain and it’s still dry! You can definitely mount them on the bottom if that works better for you!

    Out of curiosity, would it be better to have put the USB and breather holes on the bottom? Reduce the water ingress opportunities? Also curious, how long does it take to recharge?

    • @madgearcompany
      @madgearcompany 15 днів тому

      @@jtderby for my use case, I decided to put them on the top. I don’t think it makes a difference either way, tbh. The USB C port has a waterproof cap, and when oriented on the top of the case, ingress has not been a problem so far! The battery recharges at different rates depending on the charger. If it’s a 60w charger with a battery at 20% SOC, the battery would take about 40 mins. If it’s 5w, closer to 6hrs!
