    I’ve heard that Indian and acrylic inks damage bamboo nibs. From your experience is this a major concern? Jzk

    • @amw60
      @amw60 3 місяці тому

      Bamboo is the softest out of all reed pens. It will decay with use regardless of ink or paper types. That's why it's important to learn how to cut them to keep them sharp and strong. Cleaning them after each use helps maintaining the nib. But eventually they'll become dull and damaged simply due to their overall weakness compared to other materials.

      @@amw60jzk, do you have any videos about bamboo pen maintenance?

    • @amw60
      @amw60 3 місяці тому

      @@zuhayrelias not really. It's simple: you clean it with water or alcohol after each use. And when the nib is dull you simply cut a new one. You can tell if the nib needs cutting cause it'll be very soft.

    Assalamualaikum, what is the name of the smaller pen you use? Or what is it made of?

    • @amw60

      It's made out of Ebony wood. Nothing special just a slight difference in smoothness on the paper, ink flow and ductility.

      @amw60 Could I ask, to start as a complete beginner in calligraphy, is it okay to start with the Thuluth script? I can write in Arabic from when I studied Arabic grammar, but with messy hand writing lol Jzk

    • @amw60
      @amw60 3 місяці тому

      @@Jf_1900 I'd advise against it. We learn complex tasks by perfecting simple ones first. Patience is essential therefore start with simple scripts and build your way up. That being said, there's nothing preventing you from looking into Thuluth to keep yourself hooked.
