Even if you fix the problem that causes the bowing wall (e.g. replacing failed wall ties, lowering the roof load etc), the wall won't just straighten itself, it'll remain bowed and inherently weaker than a straight wall. This solution allows the wall to remain stable while accounting for any additional loads.

@@targetstructural the wall is still bowed now. Surely any loads stressing the wall will now be sent elsewhere on the build. It will always find the weakest point.

Yes! The procedure is almost identical.

Our repair doesn't pull the wall back in, it only stabilises it (prevents further movement). The issue with pulling it back is that you will inevitably introduce more cracking (imagine if you're trying to snap a flat piece of metal and you bend it back and forth until it breaks - it gets weaker with each movement). As you say, wall ties are probably your solution in your case 👍🏼. If the wall *has* to be back level then most often you are better off rebuilding that section of the wall, but it is quite an expensive and intrusive solution for something that is an aesthetic problem and not necessarily a structural one.

Hi thanks for the question! Bed joint shear strength is reliant on multiple factors including the coefficient of friction for the masonry, mortar strength and vertical compression. In almost all circumstances, this will exceed the load applied to Bow Flex. In comparison to traditional tie bars, each Bow Flex tie restrains a smaller proportion of the total lateral load over more positions, which increases the total surface area of the upper and lower bed joints loaded in shear, whilst reducing the span length of laterally loaded masonry. They're all different piles with different uses. Cage piles (assuming concrete piles with steel cage reinforcement) are generally used for heavy duty and typically new build applications and sheet piles are used to create new retaining walls. Heli Pile is typically used for remedial works (e.g. underpinning and repairing retaining walls), and in places where access is an issue. Heli Pile, made from partly recycled aluminium, can also be installed without concrete for a more environmentally friendly solution - even more so for temporary structures where it can then be removed and reused.

@@TheYohtube Typically 4 metres in the UK, but can be deeper or shallower (normally 2-10 m) depending on the soil conditions.

It is our Heli Pile being installed with a Rhino to drive the Heli Pile into the ground. There is footage on this page of the Heli Pile timelapsed and it does infact drive in like a drill bit without the point!

He is cutting a slot that cuts 2 slots like a rail, then they break out the middle and install metal bar inside to reinforce weak structure. Will hold it together forever!

They are core drilling a wall then installing Heli Piles at an angle to hold the wall up and stop it from collapsing or bowing any further
