    There is nothing wrong writing short stories but short format doesn't mean easy. I would use Drabble to describe character thought/introspection or as a training form. Good thing this allow you to write the essential. I hate that some Drabble, those which act like ideas, could be extended into novels.

    • @StoryADay
      @StoryADay 3 місяці тому

      Definitely not easier (or faster). I also don’t really think it’s a “training form” I love 100 word stories for themselves (you should check out 100wordstory.org/). While they may suggest ideas you can explore in a novel (or moments to bring into a novel) letting them be just what they are is a gift to yourself and your readers.

    • @zigaudrey
      @zigaudrey 3 місяці тому

      @@StoryADay I agree about "training form". Restraining words harm the story. A story is as along as it needed. Maybe a story end up as a Drabble or a one-shot. Content is what matter.

    💥Perfect recommendation by YT on how to look at my current problem. This 'mixing-it-up' inspires me to integrate a few outside scope ideas/views into the rigid construction of a past event. I intend mix-up the parts of this otherwise chronological story as it pleases me to witness the whole story folding in on itself near the end. I'm also considering trying out mind mapping the main event of this short story to see how that can benefit the writing. All in all a nice youtube recommendation as I was thinking to talk to someone on how to creating a unique written narrative. Thank you Julie 💫

      @@StoryADay Yes, I do want to publish them at some point. I keep writing and writing and I never know when to wrap it up. I'm narrating a few stories for my UA-cam channel too. My concern is that my stories are not completely fiction. There might be a few missing details that skew the moral lessons I learned from life's challenges. And that is my concern. I have a very good memory with details that might be incriminating to some and inspiring to others who may not wish to have their name left out of the story.

    • @dianapalmerbrooks
      @dianapalmerbrooks 7 місяців тому

      @@StoryADay I thought about changing the names but I wanted to keep the names of people who died since it's a credit to their memory. That is my biggest concern. I don't want to make a few unknown relations the object of public interest without their consent. And my last problem is deciding which celebrity names to include and which to change. I used to work in a field where I encountered people from all walks of life. Most of the people who are my finest characters are forgotten people who significantly impacted my life in forming and strengthening my character. One of my stories involves a Nun with a heart of gold. By coincidence, I brought her name up on the exact day of her funeral. I had not seen her for 40 years, and just like magic, I thought of her during her "wake". I was thinking of a meeting in her office with Craig and his mother and my father. I "woke" up and copied the evidence on Facebook in a private chat with my catholic classmate. And used it as proof to wake up a few more Catholics.

    I like to think that I've written a few pieces of good flash fiction however they are probably just really short stories. IMO, to write effective flash, there must be something poetic about the story/prose.

    @5:42, yes especially if the publishing industry refuses and or neglects to accept/publish works from a given culture. That does then become the voice of that given culture so that people from that culture might break through the glass wall. I also feel that anyone can write anything about anything, folks who look at the details of the author and decide to discriminate against their works due to whatever label they put on the author are the bullies themselves. Sadly too many people have caved to the Politically Correct bullies.

    • @StoryADay

      @@StoryADay sort of. I would rather word it like "the people who are oversensitive that scream at everyone else that everyone else is wrong". I'm not saying they don't have an opinion, but they certainly do not have a right to hurt others financially or physically just cause their feelings are hurt.

    • @takeaminute2144

      I have to strongly disagree. Everybody likes a good story, no matter the skin color of the author. Nobody is "stealing" from an "under represented" diversity group. If someone writes a good story, it's gonna get seen, especially these days with Indie publishing! And you're wrong again about DEI being good for the bottom line. Look at what's happening to Hollywood, Disney, and the airlines!
