Wind can be an issue in roof tents. We had to have a 2.30am move when at glencoe, as we got no sleep.

Jon would be very impressed with the attempt Jess..and this is exactly what test runs are for, so you can work out what you have missed or what you can add..very good video..keep it up..

When your up and running with a few bits inside...drones, phones, cameras... can easily add up to a few grand. Have you managed get insured ok? My standard insurance only covers thefts £250 and they are reluctant to increase?

Have the Allpowers R2500. Gets a lot of use with frequent storm outages here in rural Michigan. Works flawlessly powering the essentials needed for long outages. Was a great value $ also. Love your new build!

As you've said Jess uses her car daily , and you need the back seats . Have you considered making some form removable storage for those "extended" trips that would fit over the back seats ? Something modular with a quick locking system that would break down into small enough sections to fit through the relatively narrow door opening perhaps ? It is a Mini after all and utilising every available cubic inch of space(vertically as well as horizontally) is surely a priority ? I'm thinking for clothes , sleeping bags , pillows , toiletries , footwear etc maybe even tools or recovery gear ( that may be won't fit or is too heavy for the roof boxes). If not how do you plan on carrying those things ? Other than in the two roof boxes because that doesn't look like a ton of volume ? The set-up seems like it would be great for a weekend getaway or the impromptu overnighter . Speaking from experience living out of carrier bags/ rucksacks/tote boxes gets very old very quick in our experience. You guys on the other hand may not have any issues with that . We just found a drawer system to be far easier and simpler . Interested to see how you get on with the "final" build . I'm sure you'll have "nailed it"(LOL see what I did there ?) by version three or four . We're on kitchen four at the moment and trying very hard to resist kitchen five. YMMV Good luck . Fattrucker

That’ll be a nice little kitchen. Interested to see how much juice the induction hob uses. Hubby been installing solar in our van this week and trying to convince him to use one but he thinks it will drain energy too fast. Sorry to hear about the family loss. Sending best wishes to you all xx

nice job ,you can get a tent fabric cleaner and restorer kit after cleaning you just spray on and it restores your water proofing ,i use the trakker one for all my fishing kit and can recommend it

Hi Alex tent repair by zip nest idea is some iron on repair patching and strip and then sew each side to that. Threaded ali won't last long where it's used on legs plus you will get galvanic corrosion

Gonna look the dogs tits, you might need to go for a different speedo, as yours will be out with these bad boys on. My vwt2 and beetle are both out with wrong size tyres in, but download a decent app :-)
