A brief Aurora on the night of 12th/13th Sept 2024. Timelapse made up of 30 second images with an All Sky Camera.

Our arm of the Milky Way glides elegantly across the night sky at this time of year making a wonderful spectacle.

The Pine Martens that have taken up residence in our loft space are getting bolder and more cheeky by the day. They are supposed to be timid, nocturnal creatures and here they are in broad daylight just feet away from humans and not at all bothered. I think it is mother and kit and they should leave shortly then we can get the roof repaired and see what damage has been caused in the loft!!

Strong and persistent Aurora timelapse taken over the night of 12th/13th August 2024 from a few miles north of Oban, Scotland. Lots of dancing pillars of all colours and dozens of Perseid meteors. The arc of the Milky Way elegantly rotating across the middle of the frame is a lovely reminder that dark nights are on their way back again.

Brief but strong aurora peeping through the wind, clouds and rain between 00.20 and 0200 in th morning of 12th August 2024.

I was unhappy with the way the roof performed when the drive motor was mounted on one side. It was more difficult to mount it centrally but it now works much more smoothly.

The Aurora as seen by the All Sky Camera. Even through thick cloud it was easily visible in colour to the naked eye. ARACHNOPHOBES SHOULD PROBABLY NOT WATCH THIS VIDEO - there is a spider walking across the lens at several points in the timelapse.

A cute red squirrel playing in the garden on and off for most of the day. It seems quite interested in the hedgehog hotel.

Observatory roof converted from manual clamshell to fully automated, motorised slide off roof. The next step is to link it to the imaging PC to the roof opening and closing can be added to the imaging routine.
