Hatchbox Changed Their Filament Spools – Does It Still Work with Bambu Lab AMS Lite?
Hatchbox has made a major change to their filament spools, increasing the center hole size to 84mm. If you use a Bambu Lab AMS Lite with an A1 printer, this change could affect your setup. In this video, I break down what this means, why it matters, and whether you need an adapter to keep using Hatchbox filament. Is this an upgrade or a dealbreaker? Let’s find out.
What You’ll Learn in This Video:
The difference between the old and new Hatchbox spool design
Why the 84mm hole size is an issue for AMS Lite users
What adapter options are available
Whether Hatchbox filament is still worth buying
Alternative filament brands that fit AMS Lite without modification
If you’re into 3D printing and use a Bambu Lab printer, make sure to watch this before ordering your next spool.

Is the outside diameter also larger than normal? That spool reminds me of the crazy spools you get from Atomic Filament. They just now got spools that work on the AMS. Thier old spools were huge. I have the spool mods on my AMS. I have the mod on all of my A1 printers and I have never found a spool that doesn't work with it now. I wish I could post a link but my comment would get flagged. I highly recommend the AMS lite spool mod with screw on spool spindals. They work sweet. There is also a new mod for the A1 that attaches the AMS to those rear legs and it also pivots to make it easier to put new spools on the back. Takes all the weight off of the top cross bar. Have you tried Voxel PLA? They have good prices and selection. They work great with stock generic settings and the spools are good. I have been using them and have had good luck.
I will have to give them a try!
Love the transparency. Keep it up and have a great 2025!
Thank you! You as well!
sounds like AMS lite is the issue not the spools
Why do you say that when every other spool has been just fine?
Why did you not design your own
Because I’m just starting out with designing so I’m not that good at it yet.
Hatchbox should have offered to send you an adapter. What other options would you of had if you had no filament left to print it yourself?
Valid point!
Thank you for sharing. I like your videos. 🎉Happy Birthday 🎂
Thank you! ☺️
I found you! I came from TikTok. Congratulations! Happy Birthday 🎂🎉🎊
Thank you!! ☺️
Can I buy your Bambu printers ?
Haha no they aren’t for sale
Whats the company you buy your filament from? I cant find it. Also you mentioned you use software for the cookie cutters. What is that software?
I buy it from Amazon! Hatch Box PLA and Cookie Cad PLA. Cookie Cad has a software on their website that turns SVG’s into cookie cutter stl files.
Stumbled across your video. You make a really valid point about the tariffs, haven't crossed my mind yet. I might have go visit best buy and microcenter. Been pondering the idea of another printer and a camera.🤔🤔
I got the Song ZV-E10 and love it!
@ niiice!! That’s exactly what I’m looking at too! Glad to hear you like the ZV-E10. What were you using before?
@ I was using my phone then I had a Canon Rebel SEL2
Good luck on your youtube journey.
Thank you!
Congrats on the new printers.
Thank you!
happy birthday! I really like your Videos!
Hey thank you!!
Congrats on the new printers. Happy Birthday!!
Thank you!! ☺️
That is great you find what works for you :) The A1 is a great printer, while I print with ABS/ASA I love my X1C's for the enclosure and the higher temps. The A1 bed slingers are great for PLA based products and easy to use. While maintenance is a bit more on them than the X1c. they both suck when maintenance is required... Which I do bi weekly with the amount we print... Keep up the good content :)
Thank you and I agree with you! Happy printing! ☺️
Awesome content! Looks like you are having a great time and enjoying life! Keep it up and I will look forward to hanging out in your shop! Subbed 😊
Thank you so much! 😊
You should try printing multiple on each printer.. Instead of one at a time.. that way you have multiple available and then get to have a way to keep your printers busy and wasting less filament in long run.. Good prints though :)
Thank you but for these I print one at time because I find the quality way better when I do.
Keep it up 💪🏾👍🏾
Thank you!
thanks for the advice! Will put this to great use for sure <3
You’re welcome ☺️
I appreciate 😊this thank you for this. I am planning in the future to start a small 3D business so this is very helpful for my plans. Again thank you❤
You’re welcome! Please give me all your questions! I’d love to help you! ☺️
Evil company.
I think you mean evilly awesome company? But thanks for the view and comment!
@talonlefevre Nope. Evil, like DJI.
I am new to the channel and I am loving the content❤ you’re doing an amazing job❤ this will definitely be one of my go to channels!!!
Thank you!!
Would it not be better to spread them out in the envelope which would make it neater and flat? as it seems piling them on top of each other would make them more prone to being damaged while in transit
Honestly never thought about that. I will try that next time! Thank you.
And micro-plastics in our water and bodies are at an all time high. Let's keep feeding the flames 🔥 to our own demise!!
Totally 👍

Hell yeah! Love to see people modeling stuff! Good luck to you in 2025!
Thank you!
heeey talon mmmm cute
Thanks!
why didn't you like TikTok Shop?
Because as someone who only does this in the evenings or weekends the turn around times that tiktok required of me didn’t fit. If it was my full time job it would have been great.
black filament is really in demand to most most people even the stuff I'm printing are asking for a nice black color.
That’s why I choose Hatch Box I think it’s a good color.
what is a geogoat?
Geo is the design and goat is the outline
Can you do a video on your label print making and shipping process?
Yes!
What kind of glue do you use? And what are those truck bed things for?
I just use regular super glue and they are a large order I got for business card holders
great video! you might want to blur out or not show the shipping labels to avoid doxing the customers.
Thank you! Yes I am still learning and will not be showing them next time. I am still trying to figure out all my camera angles as well. Thank you for the comment!
@ you’re welcome, best of luck to your business. subscribed!
@thinkable3D thank you!!
Your products look so amazing! What layer height and infill do you use for printing the final products for sale?
Thank you! It depends on each project. For these truck beds I’m running gyroid infill at 15% but for my tumbler toppers I do much higher infill around 50-100% since I know they will be a product used almost daily.
@@talonlefevre oh I've never played around with the different types of infill, does it make a huge difference? Would love to pick your brain with more questions about 3D printing if you have a social media I can contact you on?
@@Elias-ns2lg Infill density affects strength, weight, and material use. Higher density is stronger but heavier, while lower density is lighter and faster.
@ I appreciate you explaining :) I've done research around what all the settings mean and got a better idea of them now
How do you find the fumes from the 2 A1 and the mini? Looks like you have air purifier between the A1's?
Yes, I have one up there with them and then I have added another in the “living room” side of my shed. I have no issues as well as I have a mini split that circulates the air in here so no issues.
For those bags you use to ship, get any breakage on them? Nicer than a box
Honestly, no I use these all the time. I hate using boxes. I only use boxes if I’m shipping flower pots. Other than that I use these bubble mailers. I get them off Amazon.
Just got my first printer, thanks for the honest breakdown of your first year. Dont need 10k a month to be successful as you have stated here. Keep the video's coming. Good luck this year
Thank you! I appreciate it!! What type of printer did you get? That’s exciting!
@@talonlefevre A1 combo
You are more encouraging to us than any of the ones who brag about making 10K a month... because this is the realism for most of us. Making an extra few hundred a month would really help us get ahead a bit. Thank you for your honesty and integrity. ♥
You’re welcome! I got so tired of seeing “get rich quick” and “I made $10k+”. It didn’t feel realistic to me nor helped me with reaching my goals. I do this part time and just now taking it seriously starting last year and wanted to share my experience. Thank you for the comment, I greatly appreciate it!
Really good stuff. As a builder myself, I will be looking for 3d printing services soon so will keep watching.
Thank you!
So that's what a Xometry facility looks like 😮
🤷🏼♀️
I have never heard of Matter Control, how is that software? Do you typically buy filament through Matter Control, and if so, how do you like the filament? What filament do you use for your products you sell?
Matter control is exactly like tinker cad however I found it more user friendly when using fonts for custom orders. I only use Hatch Box, Cookie Cad, and Bambu PLA. I order my filament off Amazon and Bambu from Bambu Labs. I mainly use Hatch Box. I tried Inland from Micro Center and hated it. It was so stringy and started to clog my nozzles so I immediately switched back to Hatch Box and will continue to use it.
Pretty kickass printer, right?
Indeed it is!
Your slow and steady manner is an encouragement to one who overthinks everything. Keep it up! 😊
Thank you!! I appreciate it so much! ☺️
Nice! This deserves more likes
Hey thanks! ☺️
I've got my A1 on back order (hurry up!) and it didn't really cross my mind to think how SMALL I could print things. It's like a whole new avenue to explore!
I went to Micro Center to get this printer. If I would have ordered it off Bmabu’s website I wouldn’t have received it until March maybe.
@@talonlefevre Ah I don't think I can buy one on the Highstreet in the UK. But I had a dispatch notice today so shouldn't have to wait too long!
@ yay!! That’s so exciting!!
The beds look amazing but 2 questions. Why go with the A1 Mini versus another full size A1 or better, strictly a money thing or another reason(No Judgement jw)? And totally get that these were test prints but in the future will you print say 20 of the taillights at a time, or if so why not?
I chose the mini because I wanted a printer to focus on tiny prints with an 0.2 hot end. I didn’t want another regular a1 for this as I do not need a large build plate for these tiny prints. Yes! I will be printing 20+ tail lights at time, like you said these were test prints. Thanks for the comment and watching I appreciate it!
Love this! Really cool setup! I was wondering, how do you come up with your products for print farming? 3D printing is so special because we have the solution and now we look for the problem 🤣and although I have most of the skills to give this a try, I definitely don't have the creativity someone like you has! I just upload to makerworld and enjoy the nice comments at the moment, but would love to go this direction! Anyway excellent content, I've subbed now to keep up with your journey :)
Thank you so much! I tend to try and follow trends and then turn the trend into my niche which is farming. I’m going to be trying it more this year than I have in the past. You can do it too! Start with small projects and work your way up. I’ve recently started doing CAD design and found the best way to learn is to just start making stuff and learn as you go. Thank you for the sub!! ☺️☺️
@@talonlefevre I get what you mean! I love CAD, I did a lot of it during my degree and I've found its one of the only things I can hyperfocus on! Thanks for the kind response, I need to start dedicating more time to it!
Could listen to your beautiful voice all day! ❤ such a sweet soul, any tips on how to get into wholesale? I am just starting out and would love to be where you are!! Xx
Aw thank you! For wholesale I have it stated at the top of my Etsy shop as well as sending boutiques samples of my products with pricing. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! ☺️
you're right. she's a sweetheart!
@@SpawnItems hey thanks! ☺️
You should put googly eyes 👀on handles of Ivy and Indies filament holders 🤣
That would be hilarious 🤣
