Silver Dream Racer is a great movie. It’s one of the best motorcycle movies ever made. Apart from Race For Glory and On Any Sunday & The World’s Fastest Indian. But not as good as those three. My only criticism with the film is that it doesn’t have Freddie Spencer, my favourite motorcycle racer of all time. Or Burt Munro, my favourite motorcycle rider ever. But, it’s still a great movie. Just not as great as The World’s Fastest Indian or On Any Sunday and Race For Glory.

Whats with the stupid face pull after each joke , looks like hes just shit his pants . He never used to do it .

I guess the ending was to traumatic for me as a child...I completely blocked it out and remembered him being in the hospital at the end an he was ok

Love this film first seen it it in 1981 with owning a red suzuki x7 with microns & K&N air filter I went out right after seeing this film so excited thinking of it 😂.......ps the Mrs Carol would of been dumped giving me a ultimatum with bike or her 😂.......only bad thing about the film was the ending so disappointing to me personally with the crash should of showed him winning and celebrations 🍾 instead 😀 👌

I was in the crowd at Donnington Park with my brother and parents when parts of the races were filmed in between actual races that day and remember the tannoy messages to wave like crazy and jump about etc as the bikes came past our part of the track....we were at the downhill double bends before the over pass....it was great fun and loved the film when it came out 🤟🤟🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I loved this movie as a kid.. It popped into my mind the other day but I couldn't remember it's name, I could only remember that Beau Bridges was in it.. It kept popping into my mind until I finally typed in "Beau Bridges motorcycle movie" & hey presto.. Here I am about to watch it... Isn't modern technology marvellous.!?

I've never seen this version of the ending. Wow what a different feel.

SPOILER ALERT. No way that ending would be accepted today. In fact the original American release saw a happy ending with no fatal crash.

Silver Dream Racer and Blake's 7 had thr most memorable endings of the 1980s. Nobody would dare do this nowadays as bedwetters would get too upset. Love seeing all the old British Leyland brands dominating the billboards around the tracks, wish we could go back to 1980.

I was born in 83 and I remember as a kid (can't remember exactly how old but I was roughly 7 as my dad was still alive) and I was dropped off at my uncles for a sleep over and remember that my uncle was watching a movie that I got right into and sat on his knee to watch it with him and I remember cheering when he crossed the finish line that quickly turned to horror when his bike wobbled and crashed. For years I've always wondered what it was called and I didn't know who was in it and sadly I couldnt ask my uncle as he ain't here either. So glad I've finally found it all these years later, brings back some memories

A few years after this movie came out Danny "Magoo" Chandler did a stunt as he took the checkered flag at the Paris Supercross. A photographer positioned at the finish line below snapped a photo at the moment Chandler hit the peak of his jump. It momentarily blinded him and when he landed, his left hand missed the handlebar, he swerved out of control and hit the hay bales on the left, cartwheeling and snapping his neck. He never walked again. Unfortunately, life imitated art.
