Hey there! For the quiet kids in class, this video is for you. I used to be a quiet kid at school and as I grew up, I realised how important it was to talk about this topic. Being a quiet kid in class usually comes with some negative connotations - from schools, teachers, parents and even ourselves. There is this common idea that successful people are loud, outgoing and NOT quiet. For a while, ...

Every report card was GREAT for me, except the "she struggles with confidence and speaking out about her answers" I hate when teachers ask me stuff, there's so many eyes on me and that makes me red and then there's MORE eyes and its just a spiral until I cry. I always worry about the fact I'll get the answers wrong. And when I don't put up my hand I normally get the questions right anyways. I just.. don't know how to... not be quiet. Its so much easier not talking. And I know it doesn't mean I'm any less important or intelligent. The only part that REALLY annoys me is my mum trying to "ENCOURAGE" me, she told me she talked to my teacher and that after the holidays she'll start asking me more questions and picking me more. It scares me SO BADLY i just don't like it.

I pre-K I was a very out going kid and even so going into kindergarten and 1-2 grade. I sort of became more quiet and scared of sharing my thoughts when I noticed that I was getting good grades, and the people I surrounded myself with were also not the loudest people. So me now fast forward to second year Highschool, I found this video from searching how to go from being quiet to participating more, I’m taking AP Modern World History and the teacher, although nice, scares me and it’s the first day he’s actually teaching as we went over the syllabus before and other stuff. He called on my classmate and when he immediately didn’t obviously have an answer, he moved on not even a few seconds later. I was scared i would end up not saying the right things or I might get called on, so I ended up staying quiet the whole class. Ofc there were others who didn’t want to participate like me, but there are these people who always know what to say and can always voice what they want to say, and I really wish I was like that. I also don’t have as much Knowledge on the topic as them. I’m really scared of this class rn. At the beginning of class, we also did this group exercise where each group has a topic in each category and we didn’t know what was happening so we had to make up something on the spot (this scared everything out of me), luckily we had many in our group so it got handled, but I didn’t feel very great about not helping. I’m scared for the next time I have to have this class. This is kinda making me doubt if I should really take this or just take classes outside of school for what I actually want to be. Is it really worth it if I’m always going to be like this in this class and I’m not interested interested. But I like to push myself so maybe. I’m just so scared of being embarrassed, it also doesn’t help that there are the amazing students in this class and that my close friends aren’t in this class (Infact my row is empty except for me, the teacher asked me if I was going to work solo (in a nice way), when we were getting into groups, but old classmates from my middle school that I used to talk to a lot were sitting next to me so I joined them. I’m aware this doesn’t make me look very good, but no one really thinks bad of me, and if it’s positive then we aren’t close, but I want to be and I want to try, but it’s just so hard.)

hey, I totally get you. it's hard but these are obstacles in life that we all have to get through. you might feel that you're the only one faced with these obstacles but we all have our own obstacles so that means that the louder more confident kids, though they may seem like they have everything where they want it, they have their own obstacles too that we don't know about. anyway, just want you to know that you got this and to not spend too much time dwelling on past embarrasments because in the end, everyone has their own lives and they don't dwell on other people's messups as much as they do their own. Just focus on improving your self-confidence little by little, have clear goals for the future and don't let any mistakes stop your progress. it's easier said than done but i know you can do it, i'm sending you warm wishes for the future :))) good luck!!

Lmaooo what a jerk he was probably just trying to sound cool or funny and thought it was okay to bring someone else down just because they’re quiet. Truth is you’re worth just as much as them and there’s no way they should be talking like that to you. You just gotta ignore jerks like that. But considering almost everyone in this comment section is probably a self conscious quiet kid w social anxiety, that’s unfortunately easier said that done. Hope you don’t think too much abt what that dumbo said

When I am not talking to friends or family I don’t speak at all, instead I just stand there and stare, head slightly down and eyes looking up, Idk why, I’m not depressed, I don’t find the situation awkward or nerve racking, I guess I just don’t see a point in talking.
