    Hi I'm Mark Alves, Journeyman Carpenter from Hilmar, CA. Give me a follow. I'm a new subscriber. I was born in Porterville. Raised on a Dutch Dairy Farm. I didn't have much and didn't live there long but I still have a lot of memories. ❤ Since then I have become a Journeyman Carpenter and certified welder operator. Congratulations on your ignition. 🎉 I Graduated at the Carpenters apprenticeship in Fesno. Sept. 11 will be 10 years I have been active. If i could switch careers I would like to be a welder operator and/or a AWS WELDERS Engineer. I remember camping in Pismo and seeing people with now regards to human safety light up vw blocks on fire and leave them there to burn. Supposedly they burn forever. Haha. Keep up the good work. 😊

    The first engine I rebuilt was a VW. The 1800cc put the “Eagle” Crane cam kit in it. Those engines are extremely reliable. They like to gobble up spark plugs though because of the heat.

    For the people watching this video, don’t buy the Duralast brand water pump. The propeller plate is held in by screws and a gasket. It will leak almost all of the coolant out when the gasket fails. I thought I would buy another one and seal it with gasket sealant. Well that was a mistake. It leaked again even with the gasket sealant on it. Get the pressed in propeller plate. The ACDelco one has the best quality pressed in plate. The Oreilly’s GMB (MasterPro) water pump is the second best quality for the price.

    • @Peculiarsafe83
      @Peculiarsafe83 3 місяці тому

      Also if the uploader of this video reads my comment, if that’s a GMB (MasterPro) pump from Oreilly’s, then it’s supposed to come with metal gaskets for the block sealing gaskets, and not those shitty red paper gaskets.

  • @Max-ik9qb

    why would you re-use the thermostat while you have the old one in the palm of your hand?! Murphy's Law; whatever wears, is questionable or has NO service history which you have to pull off to get to the problem replace! Otherwise you'll be pulling it all back apart again later. Props for tackling the service on your own!

    • @bladeduffer
      @bladeduffer 3 місяці тому

      Not a fan. You can pinch or bend the pulley but if you really can't turn that nut. I used to use the tension of the belt to help with the bolts or nuts holding the fan on. Anti seize is a good move

    • @SYDSbuilds
      @SYDSbuilds 3 місяці тому

      Good for you not being a fan, you do you and I’ll do me, my truck runs so good now better than it used to be before the water pump broke, you negatively don’t effect my feelings. Have a good one.

      @@SYDSbuilds but replacing it is cheap insurance since youve already got it all taken apart. Same with some of those bypass hoses Again, they may also be fine for now but going with new just means that you don't have to mess with it anytime soon. And try to stick to OEM. Aftermarket parts maybe cheaper but they never last as long as the genuine replacement parts.

    • @SYDSbuilds
      @SYDSbuilds 3 місяці тому

      Here the thing I’m not a rich girl, I’m only trying to make ends meet, I don’t earn a dang thing from UA-cam or any social media, replacing it would be the best option, but as for a single mom, replacing a water pump and using what I have left is my best bet. Thanks for your comment, it’s greatly appreciated. I’ll keep it in mind, next time I’ll keep the OEM parts
