Digital Room Correction (DRC) with PecanPi and PecanPi+ Streamers
Переглядів 2,6 тис.Рік тому
This video shows start to finish how to do Digital Room Correction (DRC) with the PecanPi/PecanPi Streamers that run Volumio. Please note this DRC will not apply to the SPDIF input, I will do another video on how to apply DRC to the SPDIF input in the future. Please note this process only looks at the basics, there are more advanced features and functions that were not discussed, I may do a vid...

PecanPi Streamer - Tidal and Qobuz with BubbleUPnP
What is the point of this if you can open the app Qobuz within Volumio?
Is that it ever solo dac and amplifier
Both are orchard audio products. PecanPi+ Streamer Premium and Starkrimson amplifiers.
@@OrchardAudio Yes I realize that last night when I was on your website I am definitely thinking about switching to orchard audio
Thank you for this
Baffleless spkrs suck🙈💩.
Leo will tou make it to the Audio Fest Dallas? I waiting for GAN to Revolutionize Audio in the way it helped create the first Blue LED (That change has rulled the last 20 years) can't wait for that new DAC
I will not be in Dallas, my next show is AXPONA.
Could we please get a close up of the news steamer and its display!? It’s bigger than I imagined it! Which is a good thing. Looks great!
Please see our website for close-up pictures.
i'm eyeing the GaN amps! definitely will buy them later this year! i'm trying to stick to one project at a time 😊
You will love them. I really like mine a lot. I did DIY also.
That DMC 2.0 is straight up EMD GAME. 🎉❤
Hey Leo. Just letting you know that the venue link for the embassy suites by hilton you left in the description is kind of an odd UA-cam search result link. Not an actual link. Might come up to visit your room from SW FL!
Thanks, it asked for a location and I "tagged" the hotel.
Sounds great Leo. Can't wait to hear the feedback
You should do a few videos explaining the Ganfet and your technology
Let's go!!❤❤
Thank you
NICE!!!!
Hi. I'm a newbie when it comes to streaming. First things first: I have speakers, not headphones. I assume that my speakers connect to my amp. Then how does my amp communicate with the volumio app? How about the volumio for PC? Very confused!
You control volumio using the volumio app on your phone or tablet. Can also use a PC or laptop. Streamer connects to your amplifier, and the amplifier also connects to speakers.
The idea is to have a small mini pc acting as a streamer and player , a mini pc small without having to have a monitor or keyboard attached to it. Then you control that mini pc with a phone a tablet a laptop etc. via WiFi . In my case I use raspberry pi. I am trying to switch to moode which is free but do not support Qobuz natively. But with this app ?
That mini pc has to be attached to a dac and then to the rest of the audio chain
Could this be done on Ropieexl too?
No. That's just a Roon end point, so all correction has to be done in Roon. I will make a video in the future on how to do that.
Excellent vid.
Thanks.
Please post the SPIDF version of the video ASAP! This one was hugely helpful!
That will take me a little time, but this is what you need for that. If you want to give it a go yourself. www.minidsp.com/products/opendrc-series/opendrc-di
I see from your import dialog that you've also tried correcting the speakers independently (leftEQ.txt and rightEQ.txt). I'm curious to know what your impressions were of the results vs. building a single filter from a sweep recording made with both channels playing.
Actually, I have not those files are defaults loaded into Volumio when the DSP plugin is installed.

very helpful video! lol hamburger icon to open settings, I like it. Is mconnect better than using airplay with the qobuz app on the ipad?
It is better then airplay as airplay is limited to 44.1 16-bits.
Works with iphone ? What advantage does it have over Volumio app ?
Yes it works with Iphones. There is no real advantage other then this method does not need you to purchase the Volumio subscription service to enable native integration of Tidal and Qobuz inside the Volumio app.
So when my subscription runs out, I can use it. I just tried it, pretty cool
@@raymoore8435 Yep.
Love the live Harp + Vocal music by Isabeau...A Very Special talent and performance, especially for a Live Audio Expo!!! 😊
We agree!
Um
Puh Khan, Not PEE KAN. As told to me in 1984 by a Cajun, a pee can is something you put up underneath yo bed.
While 800kHz is defiantly a progress, there is still no benefit to using GaN unless you increase the switching frequency into the several MHz range to be able to eliminate the need for output filter, which is the culprit for most distortion in class-D amps. I've seen Si MOSFET class D amps operating at even 750kHz. Is the modulator self oscillating or is it a fixed frequency PWM? Development should be focused on MHz range class-D drivers/controllers. A direct-Digital approach is also welcomed when the amp is supplied with a PCM signal that is directly encoded as PWM and sent to the drivers. Volume control is best handled separately by using the level signal to control the DC rail voltages of the power supply. This way, the amp can be always operated at it's minimum THD operating point (modulation depth). There is still a long way to go for class-D amplification. I'd wish that Orchard will team up with Purifi to come up with better class-D solutions.
Thank you for your feedback however I disagree with you regarding the advantages of GaN. 1. Qrr = 0, this means no reverse recovery losses and less ringing, which makes less noise. 2. The deadtimes are much smaller meaning you don't have to have as much feedback to compensate for crossover distortion. This lead to lower distortion. 3. They are a lot more efficient meaning less heat and therefore thermal noise. 4. They have much lover on resistance which leads to better damping factor. 5. The rise and fall times are much smaller creating a more precise square wave at the switch node. These things improve audio quality even assuming you are switching at the same frequency as a MOSFET amp.
@@OrchardAudio I agree with you that GaNfets are superior to silicon. Congrats on your designs !
@@jayvolek2584 thanks.
Having the nice tree on the amp. Classy. The website link... ruins it. Trashy. Other than that, it's nice but don't use your customers as advertising.
For using streamer in this way free "Volumio" is enough on a PecanPi? I mean MyVolumio subscription is not needed?
That's right, works with free version.
@@LennyAyzenshtat thank you :)

Nice and thanks!
Can this device integrate with Savant?
I have not head of that but if it supports UPnP then yes.
Definitely an alternative to consider to Hypex, Purifi, and Ice Edge amplification.
Hello, i used monoblock bosc and i have issue with middle range bass body part in music. My string: smsl dac ->xlr cable -> bosc amp. Have anyone ideas where is the problem? My old amp accuphase e212 sounds better. Bosc is more detailed and cleaned. Problem with gain? Need preamp? Thanks for every comments.
the middle bass band is obscured

Cool thanks. Now I need to learn about Ethernet and stuff. Does Ethernet connect to your WiFi box?
Hi, this device only works with ethernet. If you need wifi operation you will need wifi to ethernet bridge, something like this: www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/wifi-router/tl-wr802n/
Will using an iPhone with this yield cd quality or high res ?
It depends on the track you are playing. The Streamer fully supports up to 24/192 natively. So if your audio track is high res it will be high res. The exception is if you are using AirPlay as airplay is limited to 16/44.1.
I always thought it was dangerous to put metal in the microwave myself? Guess you learn something new every day. ✌️
lol, how else do you cook a PecanPi?
Interesting presentation but I think a power switch is a must.
As Bubbleupnp is not available on iOS, is there a comparable iPhone app to use for this?
The mconnect Player app will work.
$500? doesn't seem very competitive tbh
It is very competitive. No other $500 devices get you 130dB SNR and 125dB dynamic range.
@@LennyAyzenshtat Ah ok. I'll have to look at this. Thanks for the response 👍
@@LennyAyzenshtat for only $750 one can buy SMSL m400
