    That trailing arm bushing looks sheared through in the video. I’m replacing the trailing arm bushings, compensator arms, and lower rear control arms with PCI spherical bearing parts on my 00 Civic Si EM1. I already did the front suspension, and upgraded to K-tuned roll center lower ball joints (15mm longer than stock), and they made a huge difference in the steering feel/control when entering turns. Back to the trailing arms….removing the compensator arm bolts on the chassis end can be an issue if the car isn’t a west coast car, especially if the car came from a state that has salted roads, where the bolt is rusted in place. Whether it’s rusted or not, never use an impact gun on that bolt, because one of two things will happen…either the bolt will strip inside the slider nut inside the chassis, or the slider nut will break away from the slider channel inside the chassis, which will require hole sawing the chassis in order to put vise grips on the nut. Instead, soak the bolt with penetrating oil all around the compensator arm bushing, and through the weep hole in the chassis to soak the slider nut. Put a combination wrench (14mm is what’s on my EM1), and tap the wrench with a rubber mallet to put a vibration through the bolt. Gradually and carefully add more tapping force until the bolt breaks loose, but don’t fully loosen it yet. Instead, snug the bolt up again, and mallet tap it loose again, and snug up again. Do this loosening and snugging cycle several times, then you can remove the bolt. The reason for this technique is that it doesn’t take much for the slider nut to strip or break out of the slider channel, in which event you’ll be hating life, so avoid zapping out that bolt with an impact gun. The technique I mentioned may take 10 minutes, but you’ll avoid having to hole saw your chassis, and dealing with stripped or damaged slider nut, which will be possibly hours of added work, and having to weld up the hole that weakens the chassis.

    I enjoy these videos that show all the cars at these shows. I do live in California and I often wonder how these people with the engine swaps get away with it. do they just do a smog or are these strictly show cars that never get driven?

    • @bwcp
      @bwcp 3 дні тому

      Yea most of the time, as long as the car passes smog, that’s all that matters. If you get state reffed is where things start getting tricky. Some of the cars could be registered as show cars, but obviously local ordinances/counties could get you in trouble if you drive it beyond “show dates & events”

    When disassembling it doesn’t matter in what order to remove the head bolts or any bolts. Also, that broken head bolt, you could have removed all the bolts, pulled the head and then extracted the broken head bolt without the head. But good save tho

    it does not matter if your cam is set to any angle when installing the rocker arms. But the only thing you have to make sure when you assemble the timing belt the cam must be in TDC (cam sprocket with arrow pointing up) and the crankshaft must also be in TDC before installing the timing belt. Once both is aligned install the timing belt all will then be in the TDC setting.

    • @bwcp

    I’m the original owner of a 00 Civic Si EM1, and I love the car (I’ve owned it for 24 years for a reason), but the VTEC feature is somewhat of a marketing gimmick in my opinion…..it’s not like it kicks in like a turbo, nor shoves you in the seat like nitrous. Like I said, I love the car, but in 24 years of ownership I can’t tell the difference when VTEC is engaged at 5500 rpm or not.

    • @bwcp
      @bwcp Місяць тому

      @@justinsorci5998 man congrats on that first off! I can see that. It’s just a way to “show off” a bit of power and kick for the normal civilian that bought these cars as legit commuters and wanted to engage that “sport mode”.

    • @bwcp
      @bwcp Місяць тому

      @@justinsorci5998 some aftermarket cams like JUN or other brands will definitely WAKE UP the VTEC engagement. All due to the more aggressive cam profile on the lobes duration/lift. Also different motors and setups will make the crossover sound insane. I’ve heard battles between H K and B series. Obviously with tuning and other aftermarket supports, turbos etc, exhaust, it will also make the VTEC very noticeable. Gotta love it!

      Very clean looking Electron Blue EM1! Ggs 👉👏🤙. I have to tell my story on my 2000 EM1, single owner for 24 years with 145k highway miles, bought at 0 miles. Starlight Black Pearl and I just restored it back with new full paint original color, stock rims, stock size Toyo tires, stock body kit, fog lights, and stock body kit. Currently, installed Yonaka 4 n 1 header, Yonaka Catback Exhaust, AEM V2 and Cold Air Intake. The next step is to re carpet the headliner and remove the old window tint and install new tint. Here is a video of the final inspection after it got painted (still need to install the Si front lip)
