In the Pipe in the SM64 Soundfont | Mario Party 2 | Made by Ear
Mario Party 2 has so many good pieces!! It was hard to land on this one for my first cover of the game/series. I was considering Space Land but I'm a bit too lazy for that (lazy thumbnail should be proof of that lol).
I'm slowly making a list of some suggestions from the comments. Don't think I forgot about y'all!! Just trying to get one cover from a bunch of games before I start covering suggestions.

Might be the best area theme in the series. Definitely top 5. Emblem-less Mario returns because Mario swimming is apparently not a readily available png online. Who would've thought??????? Threw this one together nice and quick in about an hour or so. I have a small pile of unfinished projects and needed something small to keep the motivation going. Now we've gotten really niche. Such an underrated theme so I thought I'd take a shot at it. This one was a pain to finish because Musescore decided to just randomly change the balancing at certain points for no reason. I got it to work eventually though. Today on the thumbnail journey we see an interesting usage of the SM64DS logo. I wanted to make something more complex but I'm not quite sure I'm ready for that lol. This one was tough. Writing the actual music wasn't so bad, but finding good instrumentation was really difficult. Honestly, I think the original is better than this result, but I guess that just goes to show how well the original works with its soundfont, right? Today on the thumbnail design journey, I decided to combine the ideas I had for my previous two M&L covers (yes, I ran out of ideas)....

This one was a lot of fun to make. I was able to get it done in about an hour (iirc) and finding clever ways to cover some of the instruments was a pretty enjoyable experience. I think this one's my favorite so far. Making new styles of thumbnails for each video is also kind of fun. Stretches my (lack of) skills, y'know? This is probably one of the best 2nd to last area themes, the song really feels like you're approaching the end of a long journey, this is one of the best choices to remix and it proves it by feeling like it does belong in SM64. Great job

@@yoshicraft6470 nah because I used the split tool and for some reason it cut a tiny piece of the audio for no reason?????? I've used other editing software and splitting audio never did that so I really don't know what happened lol
this is probably one of the best revisions of this games music using this particular soundfont, since all the other ones ive been able to find were just lazy midiswaps. This is really impressive, I hope you keep making more in the future!

@@dentedcontroller honestly midiswaps can still sound good if you do like really good instrument choices and modify the actual sequence a bit where needed. But remaking from scratch while taking more effort almost always sounds better tbh .nothing about your stuff has felt off so far despite being redone from ear and i think thats just impressive
@@kattnip500 exactly! I have heard some well-crafted midiswaps (and some pretty terrible ones lol), but I've always preferred the greater level of control that transcriptions have. Instrumentation especially plays a bigger role in how a piece sounds than many people seem to realize. I spend a lot of time with instrumentation when making these covers.
