How to make the best SLIME at home along with the science behind it | Ðeath Master

In this video I'm gonna show you how to make a perfect slime at home.
I'll be sharing the best and easiest method to make a perfect slime by yourself at home along with the science behind it.
I tried to make this video as simple as possible along with the explanation at each step to let you know what slime actually is and how does the compounds react to make slime.
Slime is basically a Non-Newtonian fluid.
This means that its viscosity depends on the force applied to it.
The harder you try to push or pull it, the harder it gets and easily breaks apart.
The softer you try to push or pull it, the softer it becomes... just like pouring honey from a jar.
- Ingredients and their quantities required :
• PVA glue (about 100 ml)
• Boric acid powder (about 1/4 teaspoon)
• Baking soda / Sodium Bicarbonate (about 1/4 teaspoon)
• Warm water (about 60 ml or 1/4 cup)
• Extra normal water (about 2-3 teaspoon)
Step-1 :
Start by pouring about 100 ml of PVA glue in a container.
PVA here stands for Polyvinyl Acetate.
Here I'm using clear PVA glue as it costs much cheaper than normal PVA glue and is as efficient as the other PVA glues for making slime.
Step-2 :
Now take about 1/4 teaspoon of Baking Soda [Sodium Bicarbonate] and mix it with the glue in the container.
Since Sodium Bicarbonate is a weak base, it will increase the pH, making the system slightly alkaline.
This will later help the Activator to release Borate-ions much efficiently.
Step-3 :
To make the slime even softer, add about 2-3 tablespoons of normal water in the glue solution and mix it well.
Optional :
If you want to customize you slime, then it is the time to do so.
You can add a few drops of food colour or paint and glitter depending upon your desire on how you like to customize it.
Step-4 :
Take about 1/4 teaspoon of Boric Acid powder and mix it with 1/4 cup [or about 60 ml] of warm water in a separate bowl.
This solution will work as the Activator for our slime.
The term "Activator" here means that this is the main compound to activate the soft and stretchy texture of the slime. We'll see how it does so in a little bit...
The warm water will help to dissolve the Boric Acid powder a little bit quick.
Mix it until it becomes a clear solution.
Step-5 :
This is the most crucial step for making the slime.
This will decide how your slime is going to be.
Take a dropper or a small spoon and pour only just a few ml of Activator in the glue solution and quickly start mixing it.
You'll notice that the glue solution will start getting slimy and stretchy.
Now keep mixing it and pour some more drops of the Activator only if the consistency feels way too thin.
After getting a perfect consistency as shown in this video, start using your hands to mix it.
Now what's happening here is that the Activator (Boric Acid solution) started releasing Borate-ions in the glue. The baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) which was originally mixed with the glue increased its efficiency by providing enough hydroxide-ions for the boric acid to react with it and start releasing those Borate-ions in an efficient way.
Then these Borate-ions ions then reacts with the polymers of the PVA glue to form cross-links with the long polymer chains, giving the glue a stretchy, gel-like structure and texture.
After continuously mixing it for a while with your hands, you'll eventually get a perfect texture of the slime as shown in the video.
Your slime is almost ready, just one last thing to do !
Step-6 :
Sprinkle just a few drops of any hair oil that you like on the slime to make it non-sticky and mix it well for one last time !
Try not to use a cooking oil for this as it might give your slime a wierd smell.
Step-7 :
That's it ! No step seven is required XD
Your slime is now ready to play ! Enjoy !! :)
Note :
After playing with the slime, put it in a closed container to keep it clean and always wash your hands properly each time after playing with the slime, as Boric Acid is considered to be toxic if it somehow gets inside your body.
