Not the fastest thing by any means, but I love this engine. So smooth and quiet, plenty of passing power and in return I average around 22-24 mpg around town when taking it easy on the pedal.

    Had a 2000 E320 that would do burnouts with the TC off. Now have a 2005 E320 that will not do a burnout with the TC off. Engine seems to run very smooth and has plenty of high mid to high end torque. But, wondering if something is wrong causing low end power reduction.

      Maybe in the newer w211 E-class the tc doesn't go all the way off from a button, i heard people say the same thing about the w210 like in this video, but it's proven these can do burnouts though. I'm not 100% sure just heard these things from forums that the button doesn't disable tc all the way

      pamelaz jackson I’m sorry for your loss. I don’t really remember at this point. I had this car a good eight years ago or more. The lock on it was vacuum powered I think. The one thing you can do if you can get the car unlocked is to cycle the door locks a few times because they’re on the same circuit as the trunk and fuel cap locks. Hope this helps

    If someone would say that these cars are bad or these cars goes bad and there is always something that has to be fixed then my answer is : dude what are you doing? Do you know how to drive a car properly? Do you know how to use it for at least 30 days without breaking anything? I know a lot of people with negative comments of touareg but my answer is always the same...if you know how to take care of this car properly . How to check steering fluid level once per month or things like that then you can be sure that nothing will broke in the middle of nowhere. My 4.2 2004 touareg has 84000 miles on clock and everything runs smoothly and i love it ! In my opinion it was the last suv that was capable of being comfortable as benz s class on highway and brave as a jeep doing off road . The technology they put into touareg first gen was very advanced and cars like bmw x5 or other competitors could only dream of being as good as touareg was in all circumstances. Air suspension plus low range plus locking central differential as well as rear locking differential , only thing that can stop touareg are none mud or all terrain tires .

    • @9163353259
      @9163353259 6 років тому

      NatureLoversTV NatureLoversTV yeah. Say that to the gauge cluster that stopped working, and had to be replaced, and also have the keys reprogrammed. Say that to the steering column shaft that ground it’s gears bare. How about the air suspension governor that stopped working, causing the suspension to be fully up all the time? Or the engine fan wiring harness which melted itself twice, necessitating $700 in repairs, twice. Most of these things don’t fall into the “maintenance” bracket on most cars. I can go on and on. I hope your car continues to be trouble-free, but your logic is flawed.

    • @cezar88is
      @cezar88is 6 років тому

      Mercedes Fan Vids nothing is happening without a reason . Personally i've never heared anything about mealting itself fan or faulty gauge cluster and things that can happrn to air suspension is usually small problem with tiny valves that needs to be reoleaced after some time because of air leaks . I had a friend who also had touareg with air suspension and he always complain about that something goes wrong all the time but i don't really know if something like this can happen that everything can fail at once . What can i say touareg is a well build heavy bad ass suv and sorry for you if you are unhappy.

    • @9163353259
      @9163353259 6 років тому

      It's not that I'm unhappy. The car was amazing when it worked like it was supposed to. Obviously, you got lucky with yours, and that's good. Doesn't mean that everyone else has had the same experience. I hope you have many more trouble-free miles. These cars had a lot of high-quality components, that unfortunately were added on to lesser-quality VW parts bin items. These problems were not limited to Touaregs only.

    • @ogalief
      @ogalief 6 років тому

      I have a 2005 V8 and it has been meticulously cared for all its life. The transmissions in these are rock solid and the V8's are as well if you change your timing belt. Unfortunately, mine is in the shop for the next few weeks waiting for an oil pan. Apparently the threads for the drain plug in the original ones are really soft and are easy to strip. Gonna have to pull the engine to put a new one in. Ouch!! Regarding the reliability of these machines, I'd say that they have their ups and downs. Most of the original parts that are known to break (such as the Kessy system, fuel pumps, drive shaft, peeling plastic buttons, center diff, valve body) have been updated and won't crap out again once replaced. Once all those parts crap out (and believe me, they will), you'll have a dead reliable vehicle that will be trouble free for years to come. Until then, you're in a world of hurt financially. I feel that most of the people complaining just haven't weathered through all the flawed parts breaking yet. I will say that despite the TERRIBLE gas mileage and costly repairs, it's by far my all time favourite car and I hope to get at least another 10-15 years out of it

    • @ogalief
      @ogalief 6 років тому

      Though mercedesfanvids' Touareg is an exception, sounds like he got stuck with a bonafide lemon. This is one of the last cars you'd want to have as a lemon, since everything's so costly to repair. If the same parts are repeatedly breaking, then you know you have a serious problem. It sucks, because these are such awesome cars

      Bauss Nguyen I set the car in sport plus mode. Set the transmission to manual mode. Selected first gear, and then torque-braked to build boost. This avoids the initial turbo lag and allows you to utilize all the traction of the 4matic system to get off the line as fast as possible.

      No. It was in the first. The car has a chip that allows for "2-step" launch control. Meaning that when in gear and with the clutch depressed it will create an artificial rev limiter to build boost before launching. This is a very common modification on boosted cars to allow to launch from a standstill with nearly peak boost. This allows the car to launch without bogging off the line. You can actually hear the turbo spooling before I take off.
