Uganda has officially started exporting Fresh Hass Avocado to European markets by sea. The first concernment was worth $28,000 to Spin by Avotein Farms Ltd.
During the flagging off the container at Kwanda-Wakiso, Uganda, Linda Auma, the chairperson of the parliamentary agricultural Committee, assured Ugandans that the Committee is finalizing to table a bill which will enable Agri investors to support locals with enough land to open up land for meaningful yields.
Dr. Samuel Mugasi the Natioan Agriculture Advisory Services (NAADS) Executive Director, urged Ugandans to plant as much Hass Avocado as possible as the market is ever increasing. The contract signed with Spin demand 300 containers before close of this year.
Fresh fruit, is the most lucrative export as a kilogram goes for UGX1, 500 from the farmer. Uganda has been exporting Hass Avocado fresh fruits in small quantities as well as processing crude oil.
