This game is better with a little older kids. I got the idea from Ms. Jackson, a music teacher in my area.

This was an easy way to direct recorder with a young group of kids. To make it, just cut holes out of a poster board and slide a piece of construction paper on the back.

This was how I taught rhythm. We continued to practice clapping rhythms and saying them. Also when we continued learning recorder, the kids could identify the rhythm and learn a few simple songs.
