The Arcade Journey
United States
Приєднався 14 чер 2022
Fussell's Arcade became Big Moon Arcade several years ago. We have evolved into "The Arcade Journey". What started off with one Pac-Man machine, has grown into about thirty classic arcade games. We are dedicated to finding, fixing, playing and enjoying Classic Arcade Games. Take a trip back in time and relive the days of the arcade when we were kids. Remember the day when we did not have cell phones, there was no internet, and televisions were a piece of furniture. After five years of collecting and learning about these classic pieces of Americana, I have discovered finding, fixing and bringing them back to their former glory is a great pleasure. It is beautiful to see kids of today react to the classic games the exact same way we did forty something years ago. Let's explore the journey together.

Galaxian/Galaga joystick

We look at the difference between a Galaxian and a Galaga joystick. Though the part numbers on the sticks themselves are different, we learn the Galaga stick works perfect in the Galaxian! We also look at a brand new project! TIME PILOT 84!!!

Paint remover and that Pac would've wiped of with a paper towel 🤷♂️
It was my first time😊.
I restored a converted Galaxian as well. It was painted black. I had to install brand new artwork too. I did go to the expense of buying a beautiful repro bezel from phoenixarcade. I wanted my game mint and it turned out great. I put on the blue T molding, which is what was used on the early cabinets, like mine, before they switched to the bright green T molding. Fun game. I always preferred it over Galaga. Nice job on the bezel!
The pheonix arcade bezel is by far the best!
You got Vintage Arcade Gals book. Great quality on the hardback version. Got one of these in need of some care and another waiting shipping . . . may take a while.
Yes!!! Cassandra is super cool. She cares a lot about this hobby!
Love these, do more control panels please :)
We will be rebuilding the galaxian and the time pilot 84 panels very soon! They are fun to work on!
@@arcadejourney Would love to see the different types of buttons and joysticks for these games. Tells us a bit more about the game when we play on MAME or converted cabs :)
One of my all-time favorite games. No pun intended.
One of my favourite games. I was the person who had the reproduction control panel overlay made. There were none out there when I was restoring my TP84. I bought a TP84 control panel off Ebay that was beaten up. I sent it to Jeff Rothe who scanned and vectorized the artwork for me. I paid him to do the job. :). I also gave the files to This Old Game so that they could sell the overlays to other people wanting to restore TP84. This was many years ago now. This game gets a lot of hate. Most people say they like the original Time Pilot better but I say they are so wrong. TP84 is a far better and deeper game with a lot more going on. I look forward to seeing your progress. The only thing I didn't get reproduced for the control panel, because they were missing, were the decals that go on it for the joystick (showing arrows in all directions). and the two buttons. One said guns and one said Missile I believe. I've seen them on Ebay from time to time but don't know if anyone has reproduced them.
I am grateful you took the time and effort to have the original scanned. I talked to Kendra at TOG a couple weeks ago and she said the should have my marquee and CPO ready soon. I have an original Time Pilot as well but I like the 84 better. The more I play it the more subtle little things I notice, like the lone bi-plane that appears and the formation of Viper looking ships that rocket through. Each level brings different looking enemies. I see influence from the original Star Trek, Star Wars and Battle Star Galactica in the art work. There's also a distinctive Xevious feel to certain parts of the game. The sound screams "Classic 80's" I just really love it! Thank you for watching and thank-you for taking the time to comment!
@@arcadejourney I hadn't seen your channel until today. I subscribed right away. Yeah, there are hidden items all through the game. Getting that lone bi-plane for an extra man is always a thrill!. There is a TP84 site out there that has a lot of the hidden items laid out, so you can know where to find them but I never read it. I like to play the game like I did in 1984. The sounds are amazing and I love the attract mode when all the bombs go off. Just a really fun game. I look forward to your future vids! I had over 40 arcade games at the height of my collecting. Unfortunately, when I retired a few years ago, I had to downsize and had to sell all but 3 games. So I love to see channels like yours with lots of enthusiasm. I still have my Juno First and Robotron arcade game and 1 mame cabinet built out of a stripped (stripped when I got it) Asteroids Deluxe cabinet. I sure miss my games. Nothing like having the originals. Take care!
Nice, I own this PCB and I swap it into my Candy Cab every now and then.
Howdy my Friend, I hope ya'll are doing well, I've never played this game before, I have Time Pilot, but never played Time Pilot 84, looks like a fun game, another Great video, with a Cool game, Stay safe,God Bless and game on my Friend
@@arthurok327 great to hear from you!!
Great game on MAME. Think I played it back in the day a couple times. What happened to Vanguard to inspire you to do this to the cabinet? I see the control panel is a mess there on the workbench, side art looks dam good. Enjoy your delivery and content so far. Hope the # of views picks up for you.
That cabinet was gutted when I got it. Had mouse nests and all kinds of nasty. It had been terribly converted to a gaplus./Galaga 3. I ran a bitkit in it and had it boot to vanguard. Later I obtained an all original vanguard so this cabinet was kind of an option to use to grow the arcade. I got that old control panel from a buddy. I hate to alter an original if I don’t have to.
That was SOME dodging you did between that formation !!!
That's superb.
My favorite freakin arcade game of all tiiiiime!!!
It's an almost forgotten masterpiece thanks for watching
Duh!! That's a 4900! My bad!
Time Pliot is dope and a classic!!! Real Talk!!!
Thank you for informing me about that adaptor board. I have a Pac Man board that I would like to build a cab and using a switching power supply and a Jam harness will make things so much easier. Thanks again. It is finally getting back into the 20's here in Buffalo New York. Go Bills!!!
Yes!!! You are so welcome!! The adapter board makes like easier and opens up options!!!
Burr🥶
We do a pop-up arcade, The Retro Room in Belfast, while waiting for a permanent location to become available and we shift around 40 machines from storage on the second floor, down the service elevator and out onto the ground floor for a weekend, then have to shift the lot back up again. Not easy, but can be done.
I feel your pain!!! Looking super forward to permanent fixtures!!
It might be kind of cool to mount the deer mounts on the inside of the garage doors if they would clear the door while opening. Imagine seeing a wall of mounts rolling up and then hanging from the ceiling. That might be kind of cool. Just a thought. Run with it.
Congrats! The Arcade seems to be coming along nicely...
Do you happen to be located in indiana or near? My dad has an original super Pac-Man screen glass panel. Last i saw, anout 80% of the decal is still there.
Super exciting! And I have an idea, and this might earn some views, every friday, do a gameplay of 1 machine! I do that on my ArcadeCited channel and people really like it, check them out if you need inspiration 👍
That’s a great space. 👍🏻👍🏻
Where did you get the Pacman mat for your work bench? This is very nice!
That was a gift! I think it came from Amazon!
One of my favorite games.. Cool
Such an iconic game! I always liked the 3D effect, if it hasn't been done, make sure you take the half silvered mirror out and clean both sides of it. They get super dusty on top and that spoils the view of the background. I've also experimented with different black lights in the past- spec is a white black light, but the black black light gives a richer look in my opinion. Your sideart looks like the factory swapped the graphics from one side to the other, I don't remember them going off the edges, but your cabinet looks like it's in great shape. Congrats!
Wow. That side art is backwards. And has the antiglare factory mod.
I've had three Asteroids Deluxe over the years. The last one I could never get the monitor to work. I ended up getting a very nice Astroids, so sold my Deluxe the same weekend I sold Space Invaders and Pac Jr to you.
I was too late for that last asteroids deluxe. I'm super glad for the space invaders and the jr. Pacman though!!
Turned out great!
Looks good considering that it use to be a pac-man…..
Looks amazing
Is that Mr Hat narrating? MMMMKAY. That audio problem? Just a fuse, I am sure. :) :) :)
Mr. Garrison actually!!!😂 Thankfully it was just a fuse!!!
Give "wood hardener" a try, it's water thin consistency and will harden up punky particle board really well. You'll want to sand the piece you plan to harden first because after the hardener sets, it's difficult to make big changes to the shape or surface.
I have used that as well. It is a good option too!
It was a pac-man cabinet and it was converted to a jr pac….
That’s a conversion cabinet, it was a pacman…..
"Keep it OG" nice. I always do that lock trick where I bend the lock, it works like a charm 👌
Most likely the control panel wire got pinched inside the coin door. I've noticed this on my other Midway cabs as well. Make sure you zip tie them and fasten them along the wall so that they can't be pinched and slammed in the coin door edges.
Definitely will be deploying the zip ties!
I enjoy trying to fix the games more than playing them most of the time. My Pole Position always has something for me to do, lol. The other day I powered it on and the monitor wasn't working. That's a new issue.
I know exactly what you mean!!
Fabriquei muitos gabinetes, inicialmente fazia com uma tico-tico e uma furadeira. Inscrevi em seu canal e aguardo sua visita à meu canal e também a honra de sua inscrição. Abraço André Gruske Becker São Paulo BRASIL
sounds great
Typically everyone now puts in 2A SB fuses, not 1.5A SB. The newer machines came with 2A SB. So, the 2 block should have two 2A Slow Blow. And the 4 block should have two 2A Fast Blow, two 5A Fast Blow. (2 position block gets Slow Blow only) (4 position block gets Fast Blow only).
Thanks Del!! I have watched your channel for years!! I have definitely learned a lot from you!!! Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching my video!
In regards to the loss of sound it should be a very easy fix….//if you think you can’t fix that then you should not be collecting arcade games..they deserve the live from experienced collectors
Amen: Experience is the best teacher! Figuring it out is half the fun! It is fixed BTW. :)
@@arcadejourney I’ve seen my share of so called collectors that have several games and ruin them when attempting repairs then they are dead forever cus they refuse to sell them yes I’m very passionate about preserving them all. Seen many idiots trying to this hobby.. not saying you’re an idiot btw..
Cool cabs….👍👍
Thanks for checking it out!
Cool cabinet but you could make a 60 in one out of that…..
Ironically my 60 in 1 is in a super pacman cab!
Fascinating, Hi from wales 🏴 UK. Wonderful keeping the memories alive
Greetings and salutations from Alabama. So glad you found us and are on the journey!
@@arcadejourney thank you ☺️ take care enjoy your weekend
Aww give jasper the screwdriver back 😂
Looking good. Great job, it made the journey.
It did make the journey!!.. Feels great to see it back in action!!
4:10 iggy!
Ha!!!! DOG SLOBBER!!! The screw driver still works though!
Mike's a great guy. Years back, I was on the phone with him placing an order for some Donkey Kong parts while working on a broken Defender. Mike asked "what's it doing?" He then guided me thru and resolved a sync issue. I was just getting started in the hobby and he was the first person that made me think this hobby was a family.
That is a perfect way to describe it! Family!!
Jasper and the screwdriver was funny. My Boston Terrier, Bob, chewed the T-molding on the bottom of that game. He wanted to help get it removed, lol
Glad to hear Jr. Pac-man chomp away again! I just picked up a cruis'n exotica machine Saturday, I've been having so much fun
You have a jr pacman in a super pacman cabinet and the ms pacman side art couid use some work…..
