    I remember vividly when The Thriller album came out, I was 17 and my friend had the tape in his car, it took a while to really take off but then it took off like nothing before, since or after.The video for Thriller was an actual event, It was the big event at the nightclub I went to, everyone was glued to the big screen, it was un B liev able, The Thriller album is awesome but it's timing coinciding with Video and MTV took it through the stratosphere, no one has come close.

    I find it difficult and strange that none of his children have any musical talent. Quincy Jones is a man who in 1971 was music conductor and supervisor of the academy awards orchestra, which was a symphony orchestra. Quincy has written music and worked with some of the best artists in modern history. His son is a hip hop rapper influencd guy. His daughter is an actress in a trivial tv show. I don't get it. You would at least his son could play a musical instrument well.

    I don't understand why i see these trolls making negative comments about the great Quincy jones , in the comment section. Let's see how much talent these trolls have.

      @chuckfrost5624 Haters gonna always hate. Those no talent trolls have to pump themselves up by being negative about someone they don't even know.

    All these artists born after 1950 owe this man a huge debt for breaking down all the barriers that they can come through and do all these different genres in music. Tupac Shakur was wrong for disrespecting this genius. I am glad he did apologize to him and his family.

  • @JoeDoe2

    At 3:25 the music is out of sync with Quincy's conducting. i.e. they're singing beat 1 when he's not conducting beat 1.

    How is it they can have Sinatra out in the same room as the orchestra at 0:28? He's not even placed in a booth. All the brass etc. would bleed over.

    1:30 Michael: "I've got one. I don't have the lyrics." Quincy: "Well go put the lyrics on it." Simple problem. Simple solution. For them!

    Benson's Gimme the Night sounded just as 'sonic' as Thriller, if not more so. I noticed this when it was a hit on the radio, just coming across my relatively cheap car speakers which were nothing special, long before decades before I ever knew Quincy was involved in it. Then once I found out, it was like 'no wonder George's record sounded like it did way back in 1981.'

    you don't make it to that level and stay at that level unless you're 1) authorized and 2) in the company of powerful people, realistically quincy jones didn't do anything on his own accord, he was allowed to create and flourish, just like stars are manufactured, producers fall into the same category, now that doesn't deny his musical genius but the point i'm making is the music industry is evil, it's not just music i think it's about control of the culture and mind, that's why the industry is almost like a society a club, it has levels of initiation, for example, plato in his time was talking about licensing music because of the affect it has on humans and the mind, particularly the youth ...

    • @oholm09
      @oholm09 6 років тому

      it's about perspective and sacrifices. the machine may be run by some very harsh individuals, but the artists still create and we make some of the best memories of our lives to those creations. to put it all together is work and alot of fate beyond the industry. when you start hearing how some of these great records and albums came together, there were things that came together beyond the network of the industry. luck, happy accidents and fate...magic. to lessen it to evil because of the way it's ran does take away from all the sacrifice, hard work and absolute excellence it takes to produce amazing records. if it wasn't true, we wouldn't give a damn about these kinds of videos in the first place.
